Cicely Mary Barker--gorgeous illustrations of fairies--there are several hardcover pop-up books on the market that are just gorgeous. My mother purchased a couple for my niece, I can get the ISBN numbers for you if you''re interested in that type of thing. The books are just phenomenal, imo.
I love her! In fact, I love her so much that I decorated DD''s nursery in a Flower Fairy inspired theme. I still have a few FF pics in her big girl room because I cannot get rid of them. Her baby book is the Flower Fairy baby book. I have a bit of an obsession.

Wow, I would love to see pics of your DD''s nursery if you have any...I bet it was spectacularly beautiful. My mom is totally obsessed with the fairy theme for my niece, too. My SIL is not into having ''girly stuff'' for the baby at all, so mom has taken it upon herself to see that this child is in touch with her feminine side, ha ha.
Whoops, I just saw this...I''ll look for pics. Too bad your SIL isn''t into super girly stuff. It is one of the perks of having a girl in the family. My mom was the same way about the fairy theme. I mean, I like fairies, but, she took it and RAN with the idea.

When I was that age my favorite books were Goodnight Moon and Courdoroy. I know totally old school.

When I was younger, I loved all of the Little Critter books- I think those were my favorites.

I also had this book called The Silver Slipper, about a ballerina, and it came with a necklace with a ballet slipper charm on it. I was in ballet when I was 3 years old, and I loved that book so much!

The Giving Tree

As a kid I remember really liking the Frances series, along with Dr. Suess and Maurice sendak.

My Kids really like the "Don''t let the pigeon Ride the Bus" series.
My daughter was a worrier, and she really liked Wemberly Worried along with all the other Henkes books. She also liked the Olivia series and was crazy about Runny Babbit by Shell Silverstein when she was 5.

When we read together as a family, they really enjoyed the first few Little House books (until they get sad), and anything by Kate DiCamillo was always a big hit.
