Just wondering ppl's opinions on this diamond and price.

Shape and Cut: Radiant Brilliant
Est. Weight: 1.264 ct
Width: 5.74 length: 6.23 L/W: 1.08

Crown angle: 45.4
Crown Height: 13.9 %
Pavil Angle: 58.7
Pavil Depth: 56.0 %
Table Size: 68.0 %
Total Depth: 73.1 % (4.20 mm)

Symmetry: Good
Polish: Good
Clarity: SI1
Color: I
Flurescence: none

Price: $5800 USD

I was originally only given the GIA cert, but asked for information on crown and pavilion. Was told by Jeweller that he ran the diamond through "OGI" to get the above information.

Thoughts?

Hi,
I think you are overpaying!! I checked similar stones and saw them for less money!
As far a s the stone is concerned by the depth of it is little shallow !!
You could get a better quality for that kind of money!!
and a nicer made stone!!
just my 2 cents

I posted an incorrect price originally. Originally quoted $5800, but ended up being $4900 USD.

The stone has pretty nice proportions, however I don't like too much the medium to very thick girdle... Ask the seller if the girdle is mainly medium, sl.thick, thick or very thick. I disagree, the stone isn't shallow (73.1%).
One more thing... Do you like the shape? L/W 1.08 isn't square, yet it isn't rectangular.

The shape was close enough to be square to the naked eye. It is a radiant cut stone, and all the ones I saw were much more rectangular, that's why this one appealed to me so much.

So if the shape appeals to you, then this diamond may be the right one

!!!
Just make sure you ask infos about the girdle. There are better cuts, but there are a lot of stone with 80+ tables!! What about the SI 1? Is the stone eye clean? Have you seen it under a microscope or a loupe?

It is eye clean and I have seen in under a loupe.

I guess i'm wondering whether or not $4800 is a good price for this stone?

Hi Bobby,

price sounds a bit high... I used pricescope.com search engine and I found several stones at $3000... But you're buying at a B&M, right?

Looking at the proportions of that stone it is DEFINETELY worth having it checked out.

Nice crown height, pavilion depth, total depth & table combos there.

In my own personal 10 step approach to squares this passes the first 2 primary tests (which weed out many of the losers).

Send it to www.consumersgemlab.com for further analysis. You may (or may not) be pleasantly surprised.

There are 3 pavilion angles and at least 2 crown angles that should be checked here too. Good luck with it and hope it checks out for ya.

Peace,
Rhino
