As a cheese lover, I think that''s a fabulous idea!
This year I''m giving my dad a card. Last year, I gave him the son-in-law he''s always wanted (got married the day before Father''s day, am an only child), so I think I''m probably still golden in the gifts dept. My dad is tough though - his Bday is a few days after Father''s day, so I''ll probably try to find gift for both while I''m on our anniversary trip.
No, his birthday was Monday and he received 2 8oz bottles of expensive aftershave, and a large very chocolatey cake that I spent a long time making, so he''ll be lucky if he gets a card. Plus, he also has everything he could want, so it''s incredibly hard to figure out something he''d like.
Having said that, this cheese of the month club sounds like something he''d like. But I''m broke from the birthday extravaganza.
I was thinking about start a thread with Father''s Day gift recommendations. Lots of places are having sales and stuff, and it''s like the perfect time to get things for men.
If he likes steaks, The Omaha Steak company ships steaks... that could be a fun one, too. DH had a roomie in college (from Omaha) whose parents sent him a huge box at Xmas time one year and they really are stellar.
If he''s a reader...the Amazon Kindle?
I really try to avoid buying my parents "stuff" - they have way too much of it anyway, and I know that the gifts they really appreciate are things like good food, good entertainment, and that kind of thing. Plus, not that I ever run out of things to talk about with dear ol dad, but I love it when they have a reason to call me and gush about something I referred them to (which is why I think cheese of the month, a steak of the month...whatever of the month! kind of thing would be a really great dad''s day gift).
I guess my family is atypical. We never get stuff for them for Mother''s/Father''s day. We may get them something really little (like $5), but we usually do stuff for them instead. Like my mom wanted a storage bench and lattice work done on her back patio, so we did that. For Father''s day this year, I''m not sure exactly what we''ll be doing yet as it''s my little sis''s graduation party. I''ll probably get some work with the outbuildings and yard done because I''ve decided we''re throwing him a surprise 50th birthday party in August. Actually, I know he and my mom have been thinking about extending their patio, so I''ll probably get my brother and sisters in on that action!
