What are you doing for your mother on mothers day?

So Mothers Day is this Sunday. I have no idea what I am going to do. Obviously I am going to go to her house and spend time with her. I am wondering what kind of gift to take. She loves purple so I am thinking of doing something like earrings or a bracelet that has purple stones. She isnt into the mother jewelery.

I will be workng!

But I will be making flower baskets for both of our mothers. It''s simple, works on a budget and both of them appreciate homemade items more than anything else. Plus this means I get to go to the nursery and drag the hubby to be with me

My mom and I don't live in the same state, so we're flying her up here to see our new house/city/visit the baby the weekend after Mother's Day. FOR Mother's Day, she'll be receiving a package with one of those recordable cards with my son babbling on it (which I think she'll replay for everyone who comes within ten feet of her) and a book she really wants.

My MIL will be receiving a card and a photo of her grandson in a really cute frame (that has her 'grandma name' on it). She's coming to visit next month.

Radiant, what about a big bouquet of irises and a fancy lunch out, just the two of you?

My mom is on an RV trip across America (she''s been gone 2 years now). We''re sending her gifts, and a card.

My MIL .. I have no idea (besides a gift)! I''m sure we''ll all go out to dinner or something .. her birthday is 6 days after Mother''s Day, so it''s kind of weird with gifts/dinners/etc because of that.

We tend to not do anything major on MD, at my mom''s request actually. I usually just send her a card. This year we have a small gift to give her from Aidan so we''ll send that up as well.

I''m going to be out of town next weekend, so I took her out to lunch yesterday. I also got her a new cell phone, because she was having such a hard time with her ancient Nokia. I preprogrammed the speed dial for her and everything, LOL.

DH and I are going to my Mom''s house on Sunday and I''m making baked ziti for her (one of her favorites). Also, we''re getting her a potted plant (she LOVES plants and gardening) and DH is installing a ceiling fan in her kitchen while we''re there!

My Mom''s birthday is May 15 so she sometimes gets the combination occasion.

My mom lives 7.5hrs away and MIL lives 4.5hrs away, so we''ll just be sending cards and giving them a call.

Since my Mom living overseas, my DH and I will be sending her a card. For my MIL, I don''t know just yet. I haven''t really talk about it with my hubby. She is not big on celebrating things since she is a Jehovah Witness and from what I understand they don''t celebrate anything. However, she is the sweetest Mom and I would like to do something for her, perhaps taking her out to her favorite restaurant, Norms.

I will be working, but I would like to take her out for dinner with my dad.

My MIL and all the women from their side of the family go out to eat. My mother is coming with us too. They do it every year.

donation in her name to Larkin Street in san francisco which helps kids on the streets get off the streets.

My mom lives a 12+ hour car ride away AND will be jettisoning around Europe for the next three weeks anyway so she will get an email (and maybe a quirky creative poem) from me this year! We don''t get too much into the gift thing anymore for most things. I would send her flowers if she was going to be at home though.

My mother, sister, aunt (she never had kids) and I will be going to do high tea at a cute old antique tea room near where we live. It''s so not us but we all go once a year and we love it.

I''m struggling with this, too.

We always take my mom out for lunch or dinner (she teaches on Sunday mornings) but I have no idea what gift to give her this year. We don''t do big gifts, but I want to give her something special.

We visit DH''s mom at the cemetery in the morning. We always bring flowers and pictures to leave on her grave.

Not that you need my opinion on this, Haven, but I just wanted to say that I think this is very sweet of you. I believe from your prior posts, you never got to meet your DH''s mother, and I''m sure your DH really appreciates that you go visit her with him, even though you didn''t know her while she was living. This just really touched me, for some reason.

I''m one of the adult orphans. No mom or dad.

For mother''s day, I''m hoping to do something with/for my MIL because she''s been there for me and has been more helpful than ever over the last month. Not sure what yet.

I was going to send flowers, but now leaning towards a card with cash since she has hinted she would like some new clothes. I love the idea of the recordable cards. Where do you find those?

my sister and I usually set aside mother''s day to eat with my mom and grandmother. I''m giving my mom a starbucks card as well as she loves her lattes.

I just ordred her gift. She LOVES purple and wouldnt you know there is a store called The Purple Store. So I ordred her a chipped amethyst polished bracelet, purple pixie dust that she can dust herself with and purple temporary hair gel. She will love it. I am so excited! I am having it sent directly to her. Hopefully it gets there before Sunday. I am not even telling her that it is coming. Unless it doesnt arrive by Sunday. Then I will just tell her it is on its way.

Reception dress and MOB gown shopping online!! And a nice long video chat.

We have her a pink topaz pendant in the works and then we are going to brunch after church. Pretty simple, but I think she''ll just be glad to spend time with us!

I found them at our grocery store among the regular ol'' paper cards. They''re usually with the cards that play music, but they''ll be labeled as recordable. They''re also available at Hallmark stores.

My mom lives 5,200km away but I will call her after I get home from an all-day workshop :)

Dh and I will take my mom to brunch (and me, too) with the kids. I''ll bring some flowers and a gift for her. It''s not so much about what I bring but my mom appreciates a little fuss.

We don''t usually go out to eat on mothers day because everywhere is just crazy busy. I always make a family dinner on Sunday so it will be some sort of roast and I''ll think of a fancy desert my mum will like. Still deciding between a couple of ideas for a present. My brother, my sister and I usually go in together on a gift but my brother is a teengage boy (AKA useless) and my sister is away for three weeks and thinks she has gotten out of contributing so it''s up to me to sort somthing out.

My mom passed away on October 4, 2007 so we won''t be celebrating Mother''s Day. My MIL passed away, too.

My mom is 300 something miles away, and she doesn''t want us to visit her since DS is only 3 months old. We''ll give her the gift when she comes visit on Memorial Day weekend.

Nothing planned for MIL. Probably taking her out to dinner or having take-out for dinner since she doesn''t like to eating out at restaurant. We''ll be giving her a juicer and some kind of jewelry.

We may have a picnic at the park for me, so DD can play at the playground.
