Looking to gain more expierence/knowledge, I guess I want to know which is superior and why, and the plus/minuses to either.

Other one....

Sweet, I can test my knowledge (hopefully I can type this before one of the experts chime in). IS #1 is of a normal stone, whereas IS #2 is of a painted stone. The superior one (assuming performance) would be determined by comparing both stones side by side in various lighting conditions using your eyes.

Yep, the top IS is an ideal cut stone without a painted girdle, the lower one has a painted girdle to maximize light return. Which one is preferable...seems to be a matter of personal preference.

with that said,

how do each of the pictures look? I mean, independently, what qualities/flaws do either possess?

They both look to me like superbly cut diamonds.
Either will be stunning.

Use other criteria to select which one to buy, such as size, color, clarity, price.

As mentioned the second one is painted, the first one is not.

I recently decided, as are you, between two like this.
I actually "bought" both for 10 days and viewed them side by side in many different lighting conditions and kept one and returned the other for a refund.

My conclusion was they look different but equally beautiful.
In some lighting I prefered the painted; in other lighting I prefered the non-painted.
I ended up keeping the one that was larger - if the other was larger I would have kept that one - they were that close in beauty.

I know that sounds like salesman-speak, but it is my honest experience.

Which is better, chocolate or vanilla ice cream?

Next question, lets take the diamond on top...all else the same...if the idealscope image where to come out with a darker red would that be better or worse? I don''t really understand the color of the idealscope, is it better to have hot pink or a dark red...??? Is it better for the "red" color to show up vibrantly or look a little dull??? I am a little confused about where best contrast is on the "red" color scale that the idealscope uses.

That first idealscope picture is perfect. The darkness of the red has more to do with the photography than anything. The ACA''s are going to all have excellent idealscope''s. So they are really no-brainers to buy! You just have to decide between classic and the newline(painted). I had seen a classic and knew it was gorgeous, so that is why I stuck with classic.
