ive noticed they kind of vary. is it better to have a length/width ratio closer to 1.00 or does it even matter?

i know my girlfriend wants a squared radiant but wasn''t sure if its still considered squared?

im looking at several diamonds and this as well as the cut are areas that confuse me......there is no cut description in the GIA report so how exactly is it measured - is it the opinion of Blue Nile, JamesAllen, etc.??

Thanks again all! I''ve received a lot of guidance from this forum!

It is a matter of preference Kevin as to which ratio or length to width ratio to choose. JA have given this info with the diamond you are considering as it appears to be 1.00.

Here is a very handy tool you can use to play around with length to width ratios!

thanks, that thing is pretty cool. i found an old thread with this....this thing is great! only thing that concerns me looking at the below chart is the girdle being thick to extremely thick - however coda mentioned it probably wasnt anything to worrya bout. also, is their a way to calculate crown height % or is that something i need to ask for? also the table % is 68 which is bordering on the premium cut...is taht ok?

this is what im using:

Girdle variance in a radiant - this seems to be the case with some of these shapes, my opinion is if everything else looks good with the diamond, in a radiant it wouldn''t be a deal breaker for me personally. With the table, again radiants can''t be judged by the numbers, so I would wait and see what James Allen have to say about the diamond - the charts are suggested proportions only and should only be used as a guide. Crown height, you would need a Sarin report done on the diamond I believe to get that. However I was reading what one of the experts said recently concerning crown height. That it isn''t the case that a greater crown height will make a diamond more fiery or sparkly, it isn''t as simple as that unfortunately.

Regarding price, many of the online vendors are operating on fairly slim profit margins anway, but they may be able to do a price match concerning some virtual stones.

Again, can't tell just going by the depth and table unfortunately. WF would have to call it in to evaluate it for you, so you would need to contact them and ask them if they could do so. They are a great company with an excellent rep here.
