The other thread got me thinking of all the ideas that have been started here and how quickly they swept around to new "projects".

I remember when I first joined or a few months after there was LOTS of discussion about DBTY, but I haven't seen any interest in them much lately...

Which jewelry designs did you love and had to have? or passed up? Which ones do you wish you would have skipped?

I''m fairly new around here, so I''ve seen a TON of stuff that I want to do, but nothing I''ve actually acted on yet...

Currently on the list:
JKT key pendant (planning on getting that as an engagement present to myself after A proposes...)
One of Sally''s lotus rings (and maybe a few of her stackers, too!)
And some sort of 2-3 carat gemstone ring in a halo setting.

Since the cruise I was planning on going on in March is now off the books, I think some of that $$ that was set aside will be invested into one or a few of Sally''s rings...after that, who knows!!!

I had never heard of push presents until reading this forum, but I can now officially say that I am OBSESSED with getting either a pink or a blue eternity band one day if I ever have a baby. I''ll just go ahead and say pink for luck; I told DH I would return any male children since I want a girl so badly, hehe! I''m also obsessed with big gaudy cocktail rings, although mine are usually of the $15 at New York and Company variety because I''m broke.

Never have and never will give a flying fart about Tiffany and Co. Come to think of it, I''ve never really been a fan of any designer that put their name all over their stuff--I''ve always figured if your work was good enough, it''d be recognizable without branding it. It definitely applies with my ability to recognize shoes and purses, haha!

I''ve always loved DBTYs, and have never regretted my collection of them. I don''t really see them as a "craze" per se, they''ve been around for a very long time and I think they''re timeless.

One craze I finally gave into and shouldn''t have was a few years back when everyone was wearing pendants on fishing lines. It gave the illusion of a pendant just floating on your neck, but the fishing line didn''t last very well, it would kink up and look horrible.

I love the look of stacking rings, so I love that trend, and I''ve always been on board with the RHR trend. I''ve always bought my own jewelry!

Sally''s lotus ring are gorgeous and amazing too. I love the four that I own. She''s been my latest addiction. Everything she makes is absolutely amazing. I love the fact that everything is made by hand.

I also love the fact that everyone is starting to appreciate the older cuts again. I''m absolutely addicted to those too! Antique jewelry in general, especially from the Edwardian, Victorian, and Art Deco eras are just so beautiful.

Okay, I guess I love them all, pretty much.

Probably skip anything Tiffany starts off with, ie:the key. I should have skipped the journey pendant. Tired of them defining style. (I don't hate Tiff, I just hate that they define trendy)
I think I will just stick with classic, timeless pieces.

I really, really, REALLY want a DBTY! Soooo badly.

And I won''t even lie - I keep imaging my Peter Torraca teal tourmaline in this!

I hate what DeBeers is doing with the Everlon line (trying to copyright a classicknot design - and it seems they might just get away with it!), I hate the hyped up "concepts" but I admit I like that pendant. I would prefer a larger stone to loop ratio, but I like the fluidity and simplicity.

I think I got my Sally lotus and JKT pieces before they were "trendy" on PS, so I don''t know if that counts. Haha, I remember back when the turn around time for them was 1 week! Now it''s 2 months! Oh well, they are worth it!

I haven''t really gotten into the more mainstream trends (like Tiffany''s etc), but I do get sucked in by the Colored Stone trends sometimes. Bought a blue tourmaline while they were all the rage, and got won over to the tsavorite side (not that I needed much convincing on that one!).

One trend I haven''t given into yet: halos. Love to look at them, but not my personal style.

i went headlong into the mood ring craze....could not pass on that one!
23.gif
by the way(BTW)What is DBTY?
33.gif

DBTY: diamonds by the yard? I think...

Is a sapphire e-ring a craze? I''m not sure if I ''gave in'' so to speak, since I really wanted a sapphire e-ring and found PS when I was digging up some research
9.gif

I definitely have a lotus ring, but I believe I have the only E/W set oval
16.gif
I don''t know if this was before or after the ''craze'' but I''m definitely an enabler of those who sound interested- I love mine!

I''m thinking about giving into the JKT key pendant, as I already have an antique key that I love from my now FI, but I don''t think I would like wearing that one. So as soon as I can cook up an idea, she''ll be getting a convo from me
2.gif

I also gave into the ''knot your own pearls'' trend, if that''s what you want to call it. I actually have several projects coming up while I''m on semester break
36.gif

Didn't give into: name pendants a la Carrie style, key, eternal circle and journey pendants, cheap beaded jewelry

Did give into: Bezel pendant, LOGR legacy ring (THANK YOU TL!!!), pearls, tiffany charm bracelet (although I don't wear it anymore).

I always wanted one of the floating pearl necklaces that were popular about ten years ago. Some call them "tin cups."
Somehow I just never got around to getting one.

I indulged in David Yurman which now I consider EXTREMELY overpriced. It''s mostly just semi-precious stones and sterling silver with a teeny touch of gold for hundreds, or thousands of dollars.

I just bought one cable bracelet by David Yurman and I think I''m happy with just that.

I''m generally not into costume jewelry or second-tier designer jeweler (Me & Ro, David Yurman, etc.), so there are not too many crazes I''ve bought into.

Most atrocious of all is the "ice" collection by David Yurman, which are teeny tiny diamonds set in sterling. They''re thousands of dollars. For sterling and teeny diamonds of who knows what quality? Hmmmmmmm.

Also, my fiance bought my DY bracelet for me a while back, and when I compare new bracelets to mine, I can tell David Yurman skimps on materials now. My bracelet is significantly heavier than the ones they make now.

I have a DBTY that I probably wouldn''t have had made had I known that later I would get a reg. diamond solitaire pendant. The chain on the DBTY has a kink in it and I haven''t even bothered to take it in to be fixed.

For styles, I try and stay as classic as possible. That is why I picked the regular basket setting for my ACAs. (I''m not sure if martini styles are considered a trend. . .???)

Also, I kind of feel my Roberto Coin necklace is a trend and may be dated soon.

Oh, and my Tiffany Heart necklace. Not only too trendy but too many knockoffs. Once I see a piece of jewelry I own on more than 10 teenagers, it looses it''s luster.

Yesterday I saw someone wearing a Tiffany (or Tiff style) key. That was for the first time. The style isn''t for me, but I have to say that it made a bold statement.

Me too!! I even shopped around and got a couple of quotes earlier this year, when I was waiting on some bonus money... that never came through. Hence my empty neck!

I fell victim to the stacking band craze... but only so far as to try it out and find that somehow between screen and finger, my brain stopped liking it! I still LOVE the way it looks on other people, but really can''t love it on myself. One of those weird things.

I''ve always been into keys, and have worn them on necklaces since I was a little girl, so I don''t know that that counts as giving in to a craze. Same with bezeled bands, I had a fakey for years and ended up getting a real (and simpler) one for my wedding band.

OOOOH, another fun thread!

Although I was soooooooooorely tempted, I never did get around to getting a "Circle of Life" necklace. Main reason being BUDGET. I didn''t like the cheapie ones OR the ones with the dead little diamond chippies
14.gif
, and the ones I found made with ideal cut H&A melee were just too crazee expensive.

I am totally into the KEY *thang*, though,
30.gif
and have a small T&Co silver key, and am on JKT''s list for next month for a large silver custom key with a small diamond - so excited!!!

BUT, I don''t consider the key thing a fad or craze
2.gif
... I have always loved keys; as a teenager, I wore a (real) vintage skeleton key on a black silk cord. Sooooo cool!!!

I was JUST thinking about this a couple hours ago. The woman sitting next to me on the plane had on the silver "return to Tiffany''s" or whatever they''re called necklace and bracelet. I see those EVERYWHERE and to be perfectly honest, have zero interest in them. They kind of remind me of when I was in high school and Dooney & Bourke purses were the IT thing that every girl had to have. Kind of turns me off when every other person has the same thing.

I''ve said it before and I''ll say it again, but I''d knock someone over for a JM, thought I think that''s a PS only craze. I''d also LOVE, love, love to have a great five stone ring some day. DH has a folder I created on his computer called "Five Stone Wish Folder" that contains really blatant direction as to exactly what I want. We''ll see how far that gets me.

I have, too. I even shopped around for my own stones to make it cheaper but alas, no dice. Someday!

I did used to have a couple dainty little necklaces with keys when I was a child, and loved them, but I seem to be having a hard time getting into them now. I like them, but have yet to see one that really sparks my fire enough to get it.

I do want DBTY necklace... a 72" one that I could double or triple would be divine! I tried one on at Tiffanys.. and the entire time I was thinking, "this is the price of a car for some people".. lol

I have NEVER liked the "Return to Tiffany" line. I don''t get it.

I also have a Tiffany heart necklace.. which I love
30.gif
30.gif
I didn''t know that everyone and their mother had one when I got it though .. lol I would probably not pick it again since you see it on everyone.

I happily got sucked into the bezel band fan club, and am glad I did.
9.gif

I kept wanting to love bezel studs, but just don''t like them on my ears. Same with the bezel pendants. I just don''t like how they look on me, but love how they look on others!

I''ve never understood the Tiffany keys. Just not my thing.

I don''t have much jewelry of real significance except for my engagement ring and my wedding band. I don''t have any jewelry projects going on and I won''t for years, most likely.

I don''t think they''re a craze really, but a while back there were a lot of eternity bands cropping up over in SMTR. I''d LOVE to get one someday (or a half eternity), but that will have to wait for a very, very long time.

I like some of the Pandora bracelets I''ve seen but since I''m not a bracelet wearer, I wouldn''t get much use out of one. That''s something I''ve passed up. Plus, I''m not really into charms, so anything with a charm on it (even non-Pandora ones) is something I haven''t gotten into.

I actually like the keys but I was at Costco last week and I saw a really cute replica one there with lots of bling, similar to this one:
http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11493197&whse=BC&Ne=4000000&eCat=BC|108|56640|3119&N=4017707&Mo=33&pos=0&No=14&Nr=P_CatalogName:BC&cat=3119&Ns=P_Price|1||P_SignDesc1&lang=en-US&Sp=C&ec=BC-EC18764-Cat56640&topnav=

I LOVE David Yurman and I fully know that I have spent several thousands essential on sterling silver and gemstones...but I love the look of DY and what really matters is the joy I get from wearing it. My biggest regret...The ''Return to Tiffany'' silver I had to have in college..I have that heavy chain tag bracelet and necklace. IMO I feel this stuff is so young looking, that is why I handed it down to my 15 year old little sister this year.

Ditto on the Return to Tiffany stuff. I actually liked the weight of it and it made a nice dramatic statement, but I gave it to my little sister when she was a freshman in college. She wears it constantly. It''s cute, but yes, it seems very young to me too. Haha. I also gave her my Coach purses with all the "C" logos all over them.

Bezels (though I see them in PS and not often in the "real world") and halos, which, unfortunately, I now see evvverywhere
25.gif
Many of which are poorly executed.

I''m a fan of the key pendants, but not necessarily Tiffs. I also like the Tiff bow pendants- they''re just so, so sweet. I''d wear it as an adult, but also think it''s a great (albeit expensive) gift item for a sweet 16 b-day or high school graduation.

And I just Googled Pandora bracelets. Really? Those won''t be around for too long, I think. I remember when those ''Italian Charm Bracelets'' were super popular. They had uber-nice bracelets and charms, but most people wore the sterling silver variety. I got one as a gift and bought one charm- after that it sat in my jewelry box.

I just got a Pandora bracelet from my sister this summer. I know I wouldn''t have bought one myself but now it is sentimental. I only have three charms (so far) but each were chosen with meaning. I actually really like the bracelet itself so even if they go out of style (which I guess most things do) I would wear it w/o the charms. I would LOVE a DBTY necklace. I don''t think the popularity has died out. I think it is a classic look.

I like the keys but do worry that they will be a quickly passing fad shortly. I also still like the circle of life jewelry b/c I am pretty obsessed with circles/dots so I like the shape. I never had an initial pendant but am not saying I never will. I remember those being SO popular a few years back.

I never bought into the journey or the past, present future jewelry. I don''t have any Yurman or heart shaped jewelry of any kind. Just not my thing.

that is so sweet Tacori; i think they are beautiful!!!

The thing I didn''t buy and wanted to buy was the Cartier Rolling Ring until I put it on. It did not look good on me and I was all set to buy one in HI. I do think they are pretty though and enjoy seeing people with them on!!!

Well, let''s see...

I have 3 David Yurman bracelets with diamonds that are very old - 9-10 yrs. I wore them stacked and liked the look then, but rarely wear them now. And yeah, they were uber expensive for what they are. I have to agree with Gleam, my bracelets seems heavier than the newer versions.

I have 2 completed Pandora bracelets and those are less than 2 years old.

I bought a DBTY replica (Crislu) at Bloomies - good substitute for the real thing

I have a pearl Tin Cup necklace - never ever wear it.

Despite all the above
2.gif
, I really don''t follow a lot of trends.
