What’s your opinion on the Philly ball situation?

They are going after wrongly identified women to try and get this woman fired.
For a ball at a game.

My opinion? Misogyny unleashed. Burn the witch!!1!!!!!! Find her, get her! and worse.
Millions of men are having a field day saying terrible things all over the world. We are out of control with the social media overreaction.

For a ball at a game.

It's not just millions of men saying terrible things, there are plenty of women saying terrible things about this woman. Our society seems to be evolving to almost glorifying internet strangers actively pursuing the downfall of people who exhibit rude, entitled, boorish behavior in public. Side note, for what it's worth I do NOT think this man exhibited any of those behaviors in this specific context.

But in general, why are there so many people actively seeking to impose consequences on a person that did nothing to them personally? Let these people suffer whatever natural consequences will come to them. Given the virality of these videos, it's certain that family members, friends and/or colleagues will see this. They can decide how this insight into this person's behavior/character influences their desire to engage with this person in the future.

The only good thing I see coming out of this and the tennis hat snatching incident are that there are organizations and people who focused on providing positive attention to the victim in both of these cases.

@Daisys and Diamonds, I just looked at the Daily Mail to see if they happened to have more pictures and video.

i used to look at it every day, more for the pictures of the royal family rather than the quality of their journalism
fact checking is pretty thin on the ground

its hard to beleave during WW2 it was a quality newspaper
anyway the last few weeks i cant read it due to my add blocker upsetting them
oh well, so be it

@Daisys and Diamonds, I look at Daily Mail if I’m bored in the evening. I take what they write with a grain of salt. I agree, there are a lot of Royal Family pictures. Some stories happening in the US will show up on Daily Mail quicker than they are reported here.

they have an Australian on line edition, we hardly get a look in

@Daisys and Diamonds, Daily Mail recently started charging to read certain articles. Can’t see me paying to read Daily Mail articles.

And, male rules call for prioritizing the continuation of the love for the game into the future
It has something to do with this...

Interesting little tidbit about the 'nobility' of baseball:
Only one person has struck out both Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig in the same exhibition.
A 17 year old girl named Jackie Mitchell. One of the first professional female pitchers. The commissioner voided her contract over it.
Said women couldn't play, 'too strenuous'.
They forced her out, banned her, others tried to say it was a hoax and a stunt(where have we heard that before?) and disparaged her for years.

So you see, it has to be 'male rules', because when it's fair play?
Jackie Mitchell might show up.

And men always respond whenever this is talked about with “it was rigged, Babe was an actor, blah blah blah” when it’s never been proven either way whether it was for show or real.

I have loved baseball since I was a child. My dad and uncle both played in the minors very briefly and I bonded a lot with my dad over baseball whether we were listening to the Reds play on his car radio while fishing, or watching a game at home on a late summer night.

Fans can be rabid and it’s one of those unwritten rules that it’s a “man’s sport” and fine, let them have it. I do applaud this woman for not giving in AND giving him the business about it. She was, after all, just acting like a man.
