I''m in the process of choosing a 18K yellow gold eternity band. I got a quote from WF yesterday and SP today. The SP quote was less than $100.00 cheaper but has a bit more carat weight (WF:.90ctw; SP:1.05-1.10ctw). I know WF is ACA melee but SP is Ideal as well... is there a difference between the two? This will be my wedding band for the next 20+ years, lol, so I can''t make any changes after this.

Is one better quality over another? I found a ton of old threads but am curious about their quality today.

Thanks!

I would probably choose the one that's cheaper and also more carat weight. Plus, SP has a 30 day return policy so if you are unhappy with it you can return or exchange with no problems. I don't think the quality of one is better than the other..

I live in NYC so I went to Signed Pieces yesterday. Their rings are certainly beautiful, but after hearing all the praise on this site about them, I guess I expected more -- like somehow the eternity bands were going to sparkle and glow like they were radioactive.

One thing to keep in mind, if you ever lose a stone, will WF fix it for free? Jerry at Signed Pieces said they have a one year warranty and after one year, they charge. Just a thought.

I have a signed pieces eternity band, channel set and LOVE it. It is 2.37 ct platinum round and it appraised at exactly what it was suppose to. The appraiser was really impressed with quality and the price I paid. I would highly reccomend signed pieces. I wear it with my 1.63ct round engagement ring. It also stands well on its own. Sometimes I don''t want to wear my diamond and I wear just the eternity band by itself.

I can''t speak for whiteflash eternity bands because I have not seen them but I would by from SP again in a heartbeat.

i didn''t know that rogue. thank you. that would make a difference for me.

I wonder if we should call Signed Pieces to confirm that too -- I''m so risk averse I usually like hearing the same thing from at least two people! In all fairness though, the Signed Pieces band owners never seem to have any problems with stones coming loose.

lol.... i''m a confirmer as well. i think most people are savvy enough to determine that is the best course of action.

i haven''t made any purchases from sp but i love my wf pieces and would not hesitate working with them. as you said (this i know) their designs come with a lifetime warranty.

belle, do you know if WF replace a lost stone for free?

also wanted to say, I've been on PS for quite a while now and I think I've only heard one or two stories of a stone coming out of a shared prong eternity band. Sure it's possible, but I don't think it nearly as common as a pave ring..

the tiny melee aren't that expensive so even if it did happen it really wouldn't be huge deal to fix IMO...

i have never utilized the warranty service so i can''t give a definitive answer for that. it is stated in their policy that ''If it is found to be defective in any way we will cover the charges for repair.''

again, hopefully the end purchaser will confirm with the vendor any issues that are important to them.

Thanks everyone! I will confirm the warranty questions with both WF and SP.

Hi ladies.

To answer this: If something were to happen due to manufacturing/improper setting we would restore it as part of the lifetime warranty. I imagine most reputable vendors would do the same.

Logically, each case must be considered separately. There are telltale signs when it's the wearer's responsibility, such as scratch and scuff marks, a ring that is out of round or dings and dents. However, if there is minimal wear and tear then something didn't allow the stone to sit correctly, and it is the manufacturer's responsibility.

To a large degree, responsibility is about how much the company that made the piece is willing to back it up. A solid company might even decide to restore a stone gratis even if the wearer was at fault - depending on circumstances.

A comparison: If you buy a warranted stereo and something goes out during normal play the manufacturer should restore it. However, if you run it too hard, blow the speakers or spill beer in the components it’s likely going to be your responsibility.

I try hard not to test that theory, by the way.
