Well, after spending some time on here and checking out suggestions I think I''ve just about decided to go with WF for the diamond, and for the setting. I was considering a local jeweler who does custom work for the setting, but his pricing can''t compete with WF, and he said he would charge an additional fee to mount a stone that he didn''t provide. Is this common? He also has virtually no inventory on diamonds, so if he bought one, I would most likely be stuck with it.
My questions concerning WF are about their custom designed rings. Has anyone here ever gone that route or know of someone who has? If so, how did it work out? I''ll definitly buy the diamond from them, they have the most information, and the most inventory in the size princess I''m looking for, but I''m not real sure about having the setting done by them.
Another question, white gold or platinum? The cost difference in the quote I was given by WF for the custom setting was $800. For the piece of mind to not have the ring sent off to get replated is that a good idea, to go with platinum? Will chain jewelers or local jewelers usually replate for a small fee if you didn''t buy from them? I''m just trying to determine which metal will be more cost effective in the long run.
Just need some help, that''s all for now, probably will be more later on.
