I recently purchased a .825 ct G vs2 from Whiteflash http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-2763663.htm. The order is being fulfilled this week, so the diamond hasn't been set yet on the setting I picked out. After making the purchase I noticed that they received new inventory, one being an 86 point F eye clean SI 1 http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-2794544.htm . Is it worth considering paying a little more to upgrade the size and color? I like the idea of being closer to that 1 ct mark, but am not sure if there is much a difference in the two stones. What do you all think?

This may need to be moved to the Rockytalk forum, I meant to post there.

Please wait for some of the diamond experts to post, but IMO, the diamond you purchased has good ASET and idealscope images. It is VS2 clarity vs SI1. The upgrade may be so slight that it then becomes just a matter of spending more money for not a significant difference. Is that worth it to YOU to want to do that?

Why are you second guessing your stone?

If it were me, I'd stick with what you have--- but wait for those much better versed in diamond knowledge, to reply!

If the only reason to change stones is for size, then I don't think that you're going to see a large enough difference to be worth the additional investment. If it's just a mind issue for you, it may be worth it, but the increase in diameter is going to be less than half the width of a sheet of copy paper.

You won't see any appreciable difference in size or color, and by the time you pay shipping, etc., not remotely worth it.

Christina, thanks for putting the size difference into perspective with the sheet of paper analogy. I cannot wait to get the ring in. It will be on a half eternity setting! so it should be sparkly.

By the way they have not shipped the diamond out yet. So I could make the change just wondering if it is worth an extra $200-$300 or whatever the difference is.

Personally, I would take the money and buy myself a new pair of shoes :))

But that's because a total shoe whore. That, and I won't see a difference to make it worth my while. If there was a noticeable size difference, then yes, I would do it. But you're talking about 6.10 v. 6.03.

I can't see 0.07 in size. I can see new shoes on my feet.
