This is new information and clarifies info in the thread "3 Stone Setting - Just the Setting" I posted earlier.
I was told by my WF rep that their 3 stone settings only came with mouonted side stones, and they didn''t have any others than what was on the web site (WF setting a little to expensive for budget and we want to use our own family side stones). Addiltionally was told that they couldn''t order any other settings for me, nor set WF diamond I purchase in setting I provide. So, apparently this is NOT CORRECT. I finally delved deeper into the WF website after mrsalvo and miranda posted replies. The WF website info (edited for length and pertinent info)reads:

Diamonds and Settings
What are your policies for setting diamonds and related charges?
If a customer buys the diamond and setting from Whiteflash no additional setting charges apply.
If a customer buys a diamond from Whiteflash and sends in a setting purchased elsewhere there is a setting charge, providing the setting is of an acceptable standard. If adjustments need to be made to the setting to accommodate the diamond additional charges will apply.
If a customer buys a brand name setting from Whiteflash and we are an authorized setter for that brand we will set a diamond purchased elsewhere (diamond must be insured by owner) and a setting charge will apply.
In every instance we will evaluate the situation first: What is the quality of the diamond? What is the condition of the diamond? If we feel it’s dangerous to set we will not set it. Damage to a stone during the setting process, while extremely rare, is a remote possibility. We accept responsibility for diamonds & gemstones purchased through Whiteflash when being set at Whiteflash.

So apparently my problem is solved. I''ll see if they can order a setting for me, or I will order and have shipped to them to set the diamond. If they won''t mount the two small diamonds we already have, I''ll have that done at a local jeweler. Wish the rep had given me the correct info to begin with....................

That is interesting. Are you sure you still want to deal with them? That would make me angry. I would be sure you told a manager about the reps false info. AND deal with someone different there.

Good luck!!! Whatever you decide, don''t forget the pics after it''s done in the SMTR section!!!

In various posting on the board, I have seen critiques of this particular WF rep. I can''t attest to the validity of such and have chosen to give the benefit of the doubt that there may have been a miscommunication in that she may not have understood what I was requesting. Allthough I do feel I was quite clear in my needs/request to her. She did lead me to believe that there were no settings less expensive than on the web site and didn''t offer me help/advice with any alternatives.

She was prompt in contacting us when I emailed requesting info, and the opportunity to review diamonds in person. And, she was prompt in setting up an appointment to accomodate our needs.

However, she didn''t reply to an email requesting information (no answer in three days). After no reply, I called early in the am on the fourth business day after my message. She wasn''t in so I left a message for her to please call me back. After not hearing back by late afternoon that day, I called her. And of course, now as we know either I didn''t present my needs/request properly, or she just gave me the wrong information.

I have decided I will ask another rep, or Lesley, as suggested about what other setting companies WF can order a setting from. I will proceed, as scheduled to review diamonds at my appointment.

I am looking forward to working with WF, we''ll see what transpires at our appointment.

And yes, I''ll post photos when we finally get this squared away. Might even take some pictures of my son choosing the diamond to post!

Talking to Lesley is a good idea.
Far as I know they can/will use stuller settings on the low cost side(14k or 18k) that are less than most of the ones listed.

My personal preference would be a die struck setting over cast. I''d want a high quality setting since you aren''t going with a WF setting. I know both Jabel and Roseco make die-struck settings, and there are probably others. The die struck rings I have seen in white gold felt heavier and had a finer finish than some of the cast rings I have seen. Just be sure to emphasize that you want quality and not just a lower price.

Talk about the benefits and risks of doing business in the public eye!

Hi jpk1102:

We apologize for your negative experience. We want to assist with timely and accurate information. If you can please call or email me directly I can investigate and find out what occurred on this end to cause the inconsistency.

Thanks!
