WF Bezel Studs WG or Plat?

Last week I placed an order to WF for 18k WG bezel studs (~.8cttw, I, J). I am having second thoughts now, and wondering if I shoudl have gone with Platinum instead.

I''m pretty sure I still have time to change the order. What do you guys think? Does the metal type matter for studs? I plan to wear them daily.

I think WG would be fine unless you have some sort of allergy to WG or something. They shouldn''t need to be rhodium plated much either since they aren''t going to get banged up like a ring.

Depends on how much you are planning to wear them. I wear my studs nearly every day, so it was platinum for me. Allergies can develop over time, so why take the risk? Since you say you are planning to wear them daily, I'd get platinum.

Is the price difference prohibitive? If not, I''d go with platinum. But I am sure that WG will be just fine.

Years ago, I remember thinking plat hoops were a tiny bit heavy for my ears. I sent them back.

That said, I''ve been eyeing some half dome plat studs I''ve seen recently...... drool. I love the patina of plat.

kcoursolle - That was my thought when I initially decided on WG. But now I'm not so sure. These studs are a wedding gift from my FMIL, and I would like to be able to pass them on to my daughter (if we have a girl), or to FI's niece. Since platinum holds up so much better than WG, I was thinking that maybe I should go that route.

Fly Girl - I've worn white gold all my life and I haven't had an issue with allergies. In fact, I've never had an issue with any allergies, but I should take it into consideration, since these things can develop later in life.

neatfreak - Platinum isn't cost prohibitive -- it's a $200 difference, and while it's slightly over budget, I'm ok with that if plat is really worth it in the long run.

the slightly greyish look of plat, and I was thinking about that too.

Still deciding, bah! Anyone else want to weigh in?

Platinum all the way --- and if it''s only $200 then go for it for sure....

I own plat studs -- and love them they are not heavy at all

Platinum has just dropped to nearly equal price as gold ... dunno if that affects the price of the settings .. but can''t hurt to ask!

I prefer platinum!

I used to be able to wear wg earrings without any problems. Now I can''t because they cause an allergy. If you can afford the extra amount then I would say go for platinum.

UPDATE: I emailed Katie last night and had her change the order to platinum -- yay!

Deco - Unfortuantely, the price of the platinum setting has not gone down

. I bet they''re hording all that cheap platinum
