Have other PS vendors besides WF hiked their prices like this? If not, will it be coming soon?

I have been ready to pull the trigger on a diamond for some time now. While I''ve had my heart set on an ACA, their current lack of stock within my specs has left me waiting to see if one would surface. The new price hike means that I would have to lower my specs as raising my budget again isn''t an option. GOG has a stone within my range and I''m wondering if I should just buy it and avoid any more price increases.

**I know there is another thread on this topic but it seems to have gone another route.

Hello, and welcome to PS!
If you'd like more info on the price rises, I believe the experts explained it alot better than I can in the other thread. From my understanding, if they haven't already, other vendors (not just PS ones) will be following suit soon.

imho, if the stone suits your needs and you like it, buy now. Prices will only keep going up - I don't know if and when GOG are planning a price rise, but I imagine you'll kick yourself if they do before you buy, right?

If you'd like, you could provide the link to the stone for some input, if you need a yay or nay?
Not to mention, metal prices continue to climb, so settings will only get pricier too

I personally am Very glad that I decided on my GOG upgrade a number of weeks ago. These price rises were not in sight then, but very possibly could've put it out of my reach.. *phew*

if you like it, get it, and if it isn''t what you hoped for you can return it within the allowable time frame. but at least have it in your hands while the older price is still in place....

Unfortunately, the market conditions are affecting all of us vendors, and it looks like it will continue to trend that way for some time.

I have a related question: If I am considering buying a pair of diamonds for studs within the next few mths (say September-ish), any thoughts on whether I should purchase them now or wait? Will the prices be significantly more by then? What does everyone think?

Stupid question: Does WF offer some kind of lay-away program? The earrings would be my b-day present, so I really wouldnt want them till September anyway, to mark the occasion!!!!

It just wouldnt feel as special if I got them now vs. later!

Dani, there''s no way for us to completely know what the future holds, but word in the industry suggests high probability for steady increases.

When to buy really depends on your own personal circumstances. If you have the ability to buy sooner, you''re more likely to dodge any increases that might be forthcoming. Any of the sales folks can fill you in on potential layaway options, too.

Thanks, Allison!

So, can I ask, are there layaway options available then?

I would reserve a stone if you are stronly considering it.

If you have the money buy now.
Short term I don''t see them going anywhere but up.
I think its a safe bet that prices will be higher in a few months.
Beyond that is anyone''s guess.

Dani, Whiteflash has a Flex-Plan option for eligible purchases (over $1,500) of inhouse diamonds. The current outline of the plan requires 20% initial deposit (non-refundable) with paymetn of the balance in full within 90 days.

Any of the sales folks can provide you with full details on the program when you''re ready.

Hmmm....Just spoke with James at WF (so nice!) ....this is very tempting....The layaway option would work for me too, since I really dont want the earrings until my bday in September.....Im so torn......What to do????
