I’m so excited! This weekend my guy started asking me about diamonds and specific stones that he saw online to see what I like! We found a stone that we both like, but we have a couple of concerns:

From Whiteflash ACA
1.302 ct
J
VS2
61.3%
57%
AGS
thn-med f
no fluorescence
7.01-7.03x4.30
$7206

I really like this stone because of its size and cut, but we have a couple of important questions/concerns:

We looked at the AGS report and are concerned about the eye cleanness of the stone. It is VS2, but (I don’t know the right words to use) it looks like the feather(s) or clouds are on the table or center of the stone…. Is that a problem?

I’m concerned about the J color of the stone. Do you think it will face up white? I went to Jareds today (I know Jareds can''t compare to Whiteflash, but not much in my area is open on Sunday) and Jareds said that they don’t even carry J. I know that cut is most important, but even with Jared’s best cut stones (Peerless I think) which are AGS 0, they showed me an H and I thought it looked a little yellow in color. I''m ok with warmth, but I don''t want it to look yellow.

Please tell me what you guys think!! I really appreciate your input. Does anyone know of another round brilliant stone within our budget of $7,500 that we should consider?

Thank you!

Can''t go wrong with WF ACA :)
Should be a beauty!

I looked at a J a couple of hours ago iin a white gold setting and it was not yellow, but as you said, it had a slight warmth. My boyfriend (soon to be fiance) couldn''t tell but I could. I''d looked at this ring before and only just noticed it, but of course, you''ll be looking at yours a lot!

One thing I''ve heard here and elsewhere is that a platinum setting can make a stone look yellowish vs. a white gold setting, if you are not thinking of yellow gold.
Congratulations!

That's a gorgeous stone and I don't see inclusions. WF could tell you over the phone what they see, where they're located and how noticeable they are. As far as color goes you have make that choice as it's a personal thing. I have seen large gorgeous J's that are to die for but everyone's sensitivity to color is different. If you saw an AGS J that was too warm for your liking you may be happier with a higher color. The one you saw may have been in the lower range of J, like closer to a K. WF has an I but the cost goes up accordingly.

I don't think platinum vs. white gold will affect the color your stone looks. They do pick up surrounding color but plat and WG are pretty close.

Ditto. Peerless stones are AGS0''s, so if you felt that H was warm to you you might be disappointed with a J...

I wouldn''t worry about anything being visible to you with a VS stone. As far as color goes, you''re probably the only one who could tell. Chances are, if a peerless H looked yellow to you, you might be very color sensitive. I''m not, so I''d say GO FOR IT, but you''re the one who needs to love it. You can''t go wrong with an ACA though! You''ll end up with a beautiful diamond no matter what since you already know about getting the best cut. Good luck and have a great time shopping, this really will be such an exciting time for you!

I very much doubt it with VS2, but clarify with your WF rep to get some reassurance!

A J won't look yellow but you may notice a little warmth from the side in some lighting, I would suggest you look at some AGS0 cut grade of similar size and colour grade, or Hearts on Fire if there is a dealer near you, then you are comparing other diamonds of excellent cut quality to get an idea if you are unsure. WF do have a 10 day return policy though so you are covered. The diamond you have selected should be a winner!

You are all so kind and helpful. Thanks for your responses! I sent my rep at WF an email and I''ll wait for her response :) I agree that I would probably be the only one to notice the warmth of the J color. To be honest, I''m not overly picky and I really think that once the stone is set and I''m not in a jewelry store holding the diamond with tweezers side-by-side comparing it to other stones, I''ll think it''s perfect.

VS2''s are beautiful! I have an SI1 and love it.

I had a "J" color stone with "NO fluorescence" and it did look a tad yellow to me, but mine was set in a channel set band with G-H stones, so just make sure you don''t have any super white side stones and it will look fine. J''s do show warmth, thus the pricebreak. You just have to see if it looks OK to YOU.

VS should be eye clean, but you can ask someone to look at it for you. As for the color... I have seen some very well cut J color stones that face up very white. I even saw a K color round brilliant at a high end jewelers that was as white as could be!
