We're adopting another cat

Awww...she's beautiful! And I immediately thought of the name Jade when I saw her gorgeous green eyes!

Thank you for adopting her. And Ginger is right...cat introductions can be easy or difficult, depending on the personalities of the cats. We have had our new kitty for almost 3 weeks now and are still working on some territorial issues. Neither of our cats are aggressive. I think they're both just curious about the other. Please keep us posted.

Phoenix...I haven't read through the entire thread so forgive if I repeat what others have said. It is often the case that female cats will have a more difficult time tolerating each other than a male/female mix. It's just the nature of the feline. Also, having 2 shy cats or cats who lack confidence can exacerbate those traits in each other rather than helping. It could be that both cats come to tolerate each other but not necessarily be friends which may not be an issue if they are both friendly with their humans. Best of luck with the introduction. Take it slow, show extra affection to your first cat, make sure your 2nd cat is fully bonded with you and DH before introducing to 1st cat. Please adhere to a 2 week quarantine period with 2nd cat -- keeping her in a spare room or your bedroom for the health of both cats but also to ensure that cat #2 has time to adjust to her new environment.

Oh my god! I'm in love Phoenix! Those eyes! I didn't think I would be able to see it in a picture, but my my my... She's a looker!

For names, how about Olivia. I've always loved that name.

Or Sophia is cute and wholesome.

Or Pandora... I feel like that names makes her a free spirit, mysterious and sexy.

Or Shahrazad, it's different but she's smart and witty

And I really love Evelyn. Sweet, sexy and smart.

I know, her eyes are GORGEOUS!   and she's such a sweetie!

Thank you for all the name suggestions. I will run them by DH and see what he says.

Phoenix,

that is so sweet of you and your DH to adopt another cat! Goodness knows there are so many stray cats in need of love, and how wonderful of you guys to open your hearts and home to her...she looks absolutely adorable too!

I do hope you post pics of how she gets along with your family and Pumpkin when she finally moves in!

Thank you, Alexis.

I really feel that we are the lucky ones. She really is adorable, not just in terms of looks but she was very affectionate towards us when we visited.

Certainly I will post pics later. I really hope she and Pumpkin will get along sooner than later, but for sure I will heed the advice of the cat experts here.

I love your kitty. He/ she looks absolutely adorable too.

Btw, how's your bling search going, if I may ask?

Congrats Phoenix!! It's very sweet of you - I'm sure she'll be much happier with you, away from the gangs!

I hope Pumpkin transitions smoothly. The good part is that since they're both cats they both understand KittySpeak, so at least they can communicate effectively! We're introducing a puppy for the first time right now and it's terribly uncharitable of me to laugh but I can't really help it - puppy has NO idea that hissing is supposed to be threatening or that cats don't play by bunny-hopping at each other...

She's beautiful  I really like Geisha and Sophie ::)

If I was ever going to get a cat. I was gonna call him/her Emrys. I heard it on a show I'm watching and I loved it. DH is not gonna let me get a cat anytime soon, so I give unto you... Emrys.

Thank you so much, everyone, for having responded. I really appreaciate all your input and advice.

We've decided to call her Snowy. DH seems rather partial to it. I rather like Geisha myself, but for matrimonial harmony, I'm going along with him. Again, thanks for the lovely name suggestions.

The update is that Snowy indeed has ear mites. She's on medication now. Her foster mom took her to the vet and she along with the other cats are being treated. We're collecting her next week from the foster mommy. Can't wait! :appl:
