Hi Ladies (and Gents?,
I went on a fabulous mini vacation with my sister and BF that involved a brief stop at Tiffany&Co. in Vancouver.
We were at the Vancouver Art Gallery ooggling their show of Rembrandts and Vermeers and Tiff''s was just around the block, so we stopped in.
A friendly looking gentleman SA opened the doors for us and we went in the small outlet which was quite a small drab gray shop with low ceilings - I had expected something grander.
I had about 5 min to look around -not a lot of time, I know, but I did get to see the Lucida Bezel that I''ve been lusting after for some time.
It was really cool to see it in person - the setting was actually much higher in profile than I''d expected, and the Lucida cut had quite a crushed ice appearance with little fire and about average brilliance and contrast - not ugly, but nothing out of the ordinary. It reminded me a bit of a princess cut, except that the facets under the table face up like a pinwheel of triangles instead of an X pattern. As it turns out I don''t love it as much as I thought, so I''m glad I''m not attached to that idea any more. (1ct lucida bezel set = 1.5-1.8ct GOG chunky cushion
)
I didn''t have time to investigate the Bezet line (which I''m a little curious about), but I did see an attractive Jazz ring, which looked more chunky in person than I had expected (It looks big on the website, but I''d expected something more delicate in real life). I also drooled over a 6ct RB - Yowza!
I high-tailed it out of there as quickly as I could to minimize my BF''s and sister''s discomfort (she''s quite anti-diamond)and the courteous gentleman SA opened the door for us again. (Not one SA had interrupted my brief browsing for which I was thankful)
I was really surprised at my BF''s reaction - I had shown him some GOG videos previously, and he didn''t think that the Tiff''s stuff had the same sparkle. I didn''t know he had paid that much attention to detail.
I was delighted that he actually had an opinion!
I''d love to go back sometime with a group that is more enthusiastic about Tiff''s and have more time to appreciate their pieces in person, but The Big T just didn''t live up to some of the PS LIW hype (at least the Vancouver Branch).
........New York outing anyone?
