I just wanted to share my experience this afternoon with Martin Fuller Associates. For anyone in the DC area looking for an independent appraiser I highly recommend Martin Fuller in McLean VA (right near Tysons Galleria). Martin was an extremely friendly and knowledgeable man who walked me through the appraisal process which he did with me in his office.
The appraisal started with Martin cleaning the ring then he gave it a look. He then had a camera that attached to the microscope and he photographed my ring in several positions and at several magnifications. He then started taking measurements and examining the diamond all the time explaining to me exactly what he was doing and why. I told him upfront I had my AGS paperwork but he had me keep it to myself. Once done we pulled out the AGS report and then compared his finding with the AGS report to write up the final appraisal document. Martin''s findings were right on with everything the AGS report stated, of course his measurements were a little different since my stone was mounted but he was still within .02 on all of them. When it came to the color he told me it look like it could be an H or on the verge of an I (it was graded as an I so that''s what he put on the final appraisal) but I was extremely please with the diamond that I purchased from Whiteflash. Martin spent a hour with me and I left the appraisal extremely happy knowing that my diamond was exactly what it should have been.
This was my first time having something appraised but I would recommend Martin to anyone in the DC area looking for a top notch appraiser. When I mentioned that I heard about him here on Pricescope he had nothing but good things to say about this place and he stated that he could tell that I had done my homework on my purchase. (Thanks to many of you here on pricescope)
Thank you again for all the help you have provided me.
