I got this the other day and love it.

The body colour is a transluscent/whiteish colour. It shows every colour of the rainbow and there are no dead spots. It's very lively. 1.25ct.

Photos don't do Opals justice but I've tried my best! I've also taken a video (that I can't upload here) but have taken some still shots from that and inserted into a montage. No idea how blurry or clear they'll look once loaded but let's try .............

Beautiful LD!

Your photo makes me miss my Welo, haha. Do you have any setting plans for it?

They are a challenge to photograph, aren't they? But you did a great job in showing off how lovely this opal is. Is this Barry's stone from a few weeks back? If so, I'm so happy it went to a good home! :D

I'm not an opal girl but wow thats really pretty!

LD,
You take good opal photos, I have a hard time taking photos of mine. I just got a beautiful neon orange Ethiopian opal with lots of color play, but I haven't posted photos because they stink. Nice size opal, and I love the color play. Are you planning on setting it?

Very pretty stone, congratulations!

Laura

That is a very lovely opal! That is essentially exactly what I am looking for. Maybe I will have to focus more on Welo opals. I like the translucence coupled with all the color display of the entire spectrum. Keep us posted on your plans for the beauty!

Is there a difference in "hardness" compared to a black opal or opal with more of a "background" color?? Something about water content??? Thanks for the advice/knowledge and again, that is a very beautiful stone!

Thank you everybody for your comments. I don't have any plans for this one at the moment but I'm sure it will be set at some point! I'm concentrating on a few other projects at the moment (including a hunt for an elusive certain coloured gemstone that is driving me BONKERS!).

Pray tell LD, what is that?

yes do tell! I've been bitten by the bug and love! love! searching the web for stones and settings and comparing what is out there and best for the money!

Spill the beans!!

 TL is soooooooooooooo naughty, she knows precisely what I'm looking for!

I can't spill the beans because I may jinx myself! I think I've found one but am waiting until I get paid to press the button so don't want to "out" myself now! I'm a fussy mare so unfortunately this is one search that has taken forever because it's all about colour!

Haha, well good luck to you and I hope pay day comes fast!

It's always about color (for me)!! Even as a small child I loved color, use to to line up my crayons so that they were like a rainbow!

Happy hunting!

Thank you freewheelinrose! BTW have you gone back to your Opal thread? I've linked to an Opal there you may find interesting (and it's cheap)!

So pretty, looks like rainbows floating inside the opal.

Fantastic LD

LD,
That opal is nothing short of amazing in spite of its smaller size. The colour play is very good and the translucency is great! These opals are a pain to photograph and you’ve done a great job in being able to capture some of the colour play.
