weird dream of proposal... NOT my boyfriend...?

So I had a very very in depth dream about a proposal.... it was perfect BUT it was not my boyfriend.. but a guy I dated for 3 years (we broke up over 4 years ago)... I am super confused. I know it's just a dream, but why would my perfect proposal involve my exboyfriend? Strange...

I don't think dreams can always be explained or have a deeper meaning behind them. I've had dreams about exes ,which usually end up being nightmares, but it wasn't because I was thinking about them or wanted to see them in dreams.

I think what's important is what you think and feel about the dream after its over.

I had something similar happen as well, right around the time that we got engaged, but it was an ex from nearly 10 years ago! My dream was far from a perfect proposal, it was just all around really weird!

Don't worry, it's just your subconcious making sure you're making the right decision, (and engagement is a biggie)

The people that we have loved will always stay with us in a small way, but unless upon waking you though "OMG! I truly love Mr ex from three years ago" You have nothing to worry about.

Your brain is just practicing for the big moment.

Thanks for sharing your experience everyone! I definitely thought it was strange, I was almost angry at myself when I woke up wondering why it wasn't my boyfriend. haha... Oh the subconscious testing me!....Helped reinforce what I already knew

My friend took a class on dreams and this is what she said. Maybe your current relationship shares some similarity with the relationship you had with that ex which explains why he ended up in your dream. The dream actually just means that you have come to accept certain aspects of that past relationship with your ex and learned from those past mistakes which you hope not to repeat in your current relationship.
