Could one of the experts chime in and let me know what you would consider a good quality weight for a size 8.5 3mm comfort fit band would be?

Is there a proxy in grams or a thickness in mm I should be looking for? I don''t want something flimsy, but how do you know whether it will be flimsy before you see it? It would help in online shopping to have a sense!

Thanks!

The nice thing about all of the sites you are considering buying from have 30 day return policies. If you don''t think it is substantial enough after receiving it, send it back!

When I was looking for my 3 mm band (in size 7.75) I pretty much ruled out anything under 6 grams. The ring I bought my FI (4mm, extra heavy comfort fit in a size 7.5) was right at 7 grams, I think.

I agree with the 30-day return policy. If I'm not happy with the bands I'm going to return them, but hopefully that won't be necessary.

ETA: What helped us was going to a B&M store with a wide selection of platinum bands. We didn't tend to like bands under 1.3mm in thickness. My band is palladium, so it will be lighter than platinum (I only intend to wear this band when I'm active--working out, rock climbing, golfing, etc.) but it is 1.5 mm thick, which I like. Also, my FI realized he really liked the comfort fit and thought the thicker bands were slightly more comfortable, which was surprising. His band is 1.8 mm thick.

It helps to try on a bunch of different bands at jewellers, then search online for the same ring at a lower cost.
