Not sure how many of you listen or enjoy Weezer, but they released a new album called Teal.

Liking music from a wide array of genres and eras I particularly enjoyed it. They covered some classic hits and did well IMO.

Africa
Sweet Dreams
No Scrubs
Take on Me
Stand By Me
Etc

Free if you have Apple Music. Otherwise hit YouTube or similar.

I really like their spin on Stand By Me. Close to the classic but with a soft touch of a modern and updated version.

I also enjoyed listening to these yesterday! Though I have to say, as a massive A-ha fan, they can never, ever come near to the original :sun:

I have been a Weezer fan from the start. I’m a bigger Radiohead and Black Sabbath fan. I’m not sure they should have gone there. The band did a fabulous job of covering Paranoid and Paranoid Android but the lead singer doesn’t have the talent to perform these songs and it came off as tinny and annoying. They also added a pop element to these two songs that should have NEVER been added. Radiohead and Black Sabbath are two incredibly talented and respectable bands that should never cross over into the pop realm.

Their cover of Africa was perfectly suited for their style. That works and therefore the cover was lovely.

I have to give it a listen! I'm going to their concert in March

This made my day @sledge! Mr. Blue Sky just turned my whole day around.

 weezer FAN, but I don't like the Africa cover. .. but never liked the original either, so..

LOVE LOVE LOVE Weezer!!! Thanks for posting it sledge
I have not given a listen yet, but I'm excited to do so later this evening.....
Songs like Troublemaker, Say it Ain;t so, Buddy Holly, Perfect Situation.....man they're amazing.

Asscherhalo_lover- totally jealous!!!
I may have to ask me to put me in your purse and sneak me in

I'm not overly attached to A-ha as a band, but I do like the original.

At the risk of getting stoned I will mention Nickleback....*ducks*. NB did a cover of Sharp Dressed Man, who was originally done by ZZ Top. Despite all the crap NB gets, I think they did a good job. Loved some of the guitar riffs and drum extras they did. Now when I hear the original I feel like something is missing.

That is awesome. :cool2:

The one that made me smile is No Scrubs. Something about a guy singing that version and not changing it to up for the gender change in lead singer doesn't quite fit. I laughed so hard.

Yeah, I hear you. Not my favorite song either but I do occasionally enjoy it....as in not very frequently occasionally.

Glad to hear this!

I'm still really digging the Stand by Me cover. Listened to it a few times today already.

And yes, love some of the older Weezer stuff. @Asscherhalo_lover is going to need a lot bigger purse so she can stuff both of us in there, lol.

Love Weezer ever since Buddy Holly. One of my favorite music videos (my eleven year old would be like what's a music video lol) is Troublemaker because they set five Guinness world records in the video including:

Largest air guitar ensemble, Largest game of dodgeball, longest Guitar Hero World Tour marathon, most people in a custard pie fight, most people riding on a skateboard

IMO they did a great job on Africa and I was pretty stoked that they have come out with a new album.

Am I outing myself as an old lady that I had not heard of them before this? Thanks @sledge for posting this because I like them very much. I had to pull out my TLC cd when I saw No Scrubs on the list.

Edit - I see they were formed in 1992? Why have I not heard of these people? Perhaps that was my country phase and had only been married to my cowboy a few years. LOL.

@sledge I’m not sure what the whole Nickleback saga was about to be honest. It didn’t seem to make it across the Atlantic. I have always enjoyed their music & many, MANY moons ago stumbled across them in a basement club in Melbourne, playing a live set. It was the best night!

Sounds fun. What part of the world?

Also, noticed you went trade this month.....whom?

My signature has been updated! Seeing them in NYC!

David I wouldn't have guessed you were a Weezer fan!

I’ve loved them for years AHL!
I think the first song I saw was “say it ain’t so”
I was hooked instantly. There’s a cool video of Weezer covering “Pumped up Kicks”

I got to see Weezer and the Pixies this summer. I was hoping they would do their cover of Pumped up kicks, but did Africa instead. It was fun. Pixies of course is a way better band but I admit I really enjoyed myself. As my brother said, Weezer is neither underrated nor overrated. They are rated about what they are.
