I''ve been stressing over this coming Wednesday (Jan. 23) for over a month... I have an interview for an interpreting position at a college. It''s not the "interview" that has me stressed so much as the performance test I will have to do. I will watch a video of someone speaking, and I will interpret in ASL for them. Then I will watch a video of someone signing, and I will speak for them. Along with all the multi-tasking having to go on in my brain to interpret correctly back and forth into languages and cultures, my brain is screaming, "I''M NOT GONNA UNDERSTAND! WHAT IF I MISS WHAT THEY SIGN? WHAT IF I CAN''T READ THEIR SIGNS? I''M NOT GONNA UNDERSTAND!" lol.

To make matters exponentially worse, following the interview I have to go to the hospital with my FI because his dr. wants to do an ultrasound to check in stomach and liver for tumors/cancer. I usually don''t worry about "what might be," but... I am.

So, along with other concerns, I''m having a stressful week, so any prayers n pixie dust would be appreciated.

Sera -- My goodness. You have a lot going on there.

Just wanted to let you know that I''m thinking of you and sending prayers and pixie dust your way and crossing my fingers too!

I KNOW that you do just fine on your performance test.

Sending BUCKETS of dust your way!

I''m sure you''ll do fine with the performance tests. I mean if you KNOW all those languages to begin with, you''re obviously a shoe-in!

I know it''s easier said than done, but try to focus on one thing at a time. I''m not much of a worrier myself, but I know it can build up in a person!

You got it girlie.

But more importantly...you rely on your skill. You toss that doubt away. Be confident in your ability as you were trained. We dusters believe in you, or we wouldn''t waste the rich particles.

We don''t toss the dust on a loosing propostion. We weigh the odds and then toss.

Remember this test thing is just exploratory. He is checking. A time to learn what is there. You cross that bridge when you come to it. You have to seperate the two to be victorious in them both. Accomplish one, then move on to the next.

I am praying that the test results find nothing negative. And I am dusting for the interview. Now take Wednesday, you own it! §

Ditto, sending a ton of dust your way, hang in there.

sending lots of fairy dust for you and your FI. Best of luck in the interview and I agree with DKS in relation to your FI. This is just a screening so don''t think of what if''s yet-I''m sure that he''ll be fine. Good luck and hugs.

Sera,

I know what it''s like to anticipate an upcoming date, but I''ve found that usually the anticipation is much worse than the actual day. You know your ASL, and the interview should come naturally to you.

Please let us know how everything goes, especially your FI''s ultrasound. I''ll be thinking positive thoughts for him and you.

sera, wishing you the best of luck this Wednesday, on both your interview/test and your FI''s u/s. And of course sending lots and lots of the infamous PS fairy dust your way!!!!!

good luck on your interview and I hope all goes well for your FI.

Thanks all! Regarding my FI, I''m not really running through all the "what ifs" and I know there''s not sense in worrying about something that hasn''t even happened, it''s just one of those stressors that is putting my stomach in knots. I really hope I do well on the test (I''m also going to begin studying/practicing for my national certification, so this experience would help) and that they have classes that will fit in my schedule (I am keeping my current job). Though, if my eyes don''t de-puff I won''t be able to see any signing and interpret something totally random! (wouldn''t be the first time

Good Luck tomorrow!

Be sure to report in and tell us all about how well you did!

They hired me! I didn''t do as well as I could have because I was SOOOO nervous (!!!), but I was hired anyway lol.

The dr. had to reschedule my FI''s tests. I''m sure whenever he does take the tests, it will be fine.

Thanks everyone!

Congratulations Sera!!! That''s great news! I hope things go well with your FI''s tests.

Yay! What good news!

Sera,
Congrats!! They hired you, so you must have done a great job, nerves or not!!! Enjoy your new job!!!

congrats sera...that is great news!!

Congrats! You must feel good about that! Also, not that I am diagnosing, but it would seem to me that if they were super concerned about him, they might not be willing to push the tests back...just a thought, and I certainly hope he is all right!

Excellent news, Sera! Congratulations!

Congrats on the job!

I''ll be praying for your FI.

Congratulations on the job! That''s great news...and just think how much you can knock their socks off if your interview was something you felt you weren''t 100% on. (I''m guessing, however, that you are really hard on yourself and that you were awesome!)

Take a positive approach to the FI''s tests...positive vibes your way!

How did it go Sera??

Positive thoughts for your FI too!

Thanks all!

Well, I can be hard on myself... but really, objectively, I sucked! lol. My hands were shaking (I warned her I would be stuttering!

) and my brain was freezing! But apparently I did well enough... and hey, it leaves me a wholllle lotta room for improvement!

As for my FI, yeah, I don''t think he has cancer and the tests will just rule that out. They are just trying to find the cause of reoccurring illness, so something is going on- just don''t think it''s cancer.

Sera, congrats on your job!

Good luck with FI''s tests and glad you are feeling better.

HI:

Well done! Hope all turns out well with your FI.

cheers--Sharon

Congrats on the new job! Do you start soon?

I''ll keep your FI in my thoughts! Did they do a blood panel to r/o an ulcer, also to check pancreas and liver function?
