Hello Ladies!

I have a question/suggestion for you...

I''m going to a wedding in Detriot MI in the middle of September. The wedding is in a church, and the reception is at a hotel...I''m not from Detroit or MI for that matter and have NO idea what the weather is going to be so therefore I have NO idea what to wear....any suggestions?

Thanks!!!

Bullet-proof vest?

The weather should be pretty temperate there in September; one should probably wear the same type of dress one would wear in the northeast at that time of year, and carry a light shawl or light shrug in case it becomes a touch chilly between locales. What are you thinking of wearing?

HAHA!!! I was thinking the same thing!!!

I''m not sure what to wear really...Everyone in the wedding and going to the wedding all seem to be very stylish and trendy...I on the other hand...am not. I would love to have a similar look as my trendy counter parts, w/o standing out. I''m from CO and I''m mostly a jeans and t-shirt girl...I never think I look ok in dresses...The trendyist thing I own is a pair of skinny jeans...lol. The only skirts I own are business suits...I''m at a loss really.

I was born and raised in Detroit so I can give a little help. September is still on the warm side. Highs in the 60s/70s, lows in the 50s. You gotta remember it''s only a week or two after labor day and even in the Midwest, that can be scorching hot. Depending on your venue, I''d go glam with the dress. Detroit has a lot of churches with very cool architecture and if you''re getting married somewhere cool, I''d definitely play it up. Find out what era the church was built, that also might help.

Hope that gives you some ideas.

yeah, plan on it being in the seventies if it''s during the daytime, but bring a sweater or something for the evening. the weather is really unpredictable - it was 90 here yesterday and we were all in jeans and sweatshirts today.....until like 3pm when it went back up to like 85.

Maybe stick with a classic dress silhouette but in a trendy color?

A KISS tee-shirt?

Sorry, your topic was funny....

Heh heh... well, I agree that a business suit skirt is probably not the best way to go, and if you're mostly a jeans and T-shirt girl that the initial question can be overwhelming. Okay... some questions back to you!

-- At what time of day is the wedding and the reception?
-- Are there any "style icons" (celebrities) whose look you like and that you think would suit you?
-- How would you describe your body type? Height/dress size/problem areas/ kickin' areas?
-- So when you say the others are "very stylish", stylish how? What do you expect the other girls to be wearing?
-- Has there ever been a dress, even if many years ago, that you wore and really liked? Even if it would be considered out of date now, can you describe the outfit and what you liked about it?
-- Are there any colors you look good in?

Ditto. Dress light, bring a shawl/cloak in case the weather goes crazy on you. Which it often does. Crazy state, LOL.

That''s a fab church! Really old with lots of character. Maybe you should try some of JCrew''s dresses or Nordstrom. Some of them have a simple but glamorous look to them.

Ok...I posted this in LIW but I''ll put it here too since everyone was such great help...
I think this is what I''ll be wearing to the wedding...
