My fiancee is looking for a wedding dress but needs help. She is not the traditional bride and does not like most wedding dresses out there. She wants something simple, but elegant. She does not want: a big train, strapless, lots of beading, lots of lace. She wants: straps, A-line, fit-n-flare or sheath, preferably silk and not polyester (something light that breaths in hot summer weather), sample dress on sale is fine, <$2500. She wants to be able to go to the restroom in her dress. :) She wants to be able to move. She doesn't want it too tight that shows her belly button or undies. She doesn't want anything too puffy.

Maybe you can help by providing some wedding dress designers that fit her criteria or know where to look?

There have been a couple of brides purchase through Macy's. You can try their wedding dress section HERE or just look at white evening gowns.

David's Bridal has a decent selection of things that may fit her description.

Take a look at theknot.com HERE. You can search by style, material, and lots of other things. Lots of designers have the sort of thing you're describing. Sottero & Midgley and Melissa Sweet might be a good place to start.

ltlfirecracker's Monique Lhuillier comes to mind...top of page 7 of this thread.

Jim Hjelm also does amazing dresses. I feel like the 8303 would check all of her boxes... I'd also suggest checking out their line of dresses for bridesmaids. I nearly purchased this dress from the Occasions line before I found my dress as it fit everything I wanted in my gown!

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding and please come back and let us know when she finds a dress!

Ann Taylor has some simple, classic dresses well below that price point. The silk content varies, but there are some:

BCBG has some edgier styles, this one might work: http://www.bcbg.com/Mara-Long-Lengt...id=dresses-by-occasion-wedding-bride#start=13

And Nordstrom carries the Nicole Miller dresses which are very well made and are often silk. They have an unconditional return policy.

Maybe this one? http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/nicole-...tualcategoryid=0&fashionColor=&resultback=489

Hi! Where are you located? I'd try to find a wedding store that sells sample designer gowns.

I also do not like trains, tulle, or pouffy-ness. I ended up with a simple lace strapless dress from Amy Kuschel. I wanted straps when I first started searching too, but found out that strapless sweetheart necklines work best on me.

These dresses can be a bit on the wild side but they are beautiful, silk, custom made, and insanely well priced. http://wai-ching.com/products/bridal If I ever get married in a long dress it will be from here.
