Wedding Cake Before and After

I saw this somewhere else and thought it was neat... Post pictures of what your wedding cake was supposed to look like or the inspiration for it and then a picture of how it actually turned out! Note: This thread may cause you to become very very hungry for cake!

To start us off.. this is my cousin''s inspiration..

Your cousin''s cake looks like it came out pretty close to what she asked for. Was her cake fondant? The top cake looks just a bit more rounded on the edges.

Ok now here is a horror story... This is from one of my old roommates wedding. It was supposed to resemble this but be the ribbons were to be a light pink:

that''s horrible!!! maybe for a kids party or something...but that looks nothing like the inspiration cake!!!. Those are the "funny" kind of things always happen at weddings though...hehe....we are all bound to have something like that happen!!. Hopefully it won''t be something so obvios as the cake! lol

Well, at first she was pretty upset but tried to not let it show.. But she got over it within 5 minutes because heck, it was her wedding and she had just married the man of her dreams. It ended up being a pretty big joke and unfortunately there wasn''t enough cake to go around and there wasn''t even a top layer for them to take home and save

. She was laughing all night about it. Of course, she immediately contacted them after her honeymoon and received a refund. They apologized and I guess it was a mix up..

And here is the finished product: Pretty good... unless you count the "pearls" looking like gumballs (seriously.. someone asked if those were gumballs!!!

) and.. well the fondant ribbon's were too thick... but hey.. I'm soooo detail oriented.. of course I noticed it!

Awww... Cleopatra... I wish he could take credit for that.. we actually picked that out of a catalog before we designed the cake.. so that is why its included in the drawing!

He did a beautiful job sketching it though!
