Hello all,

Im looking at a 2.5 carat marquise, looking for one that isnt too stubby, as i have thin fingers. I dont think anything too fussy or complicated. But cant seem to see a wedding ring next to a marquise that i like. I want the band to sit tight together. im thinking about baguettes or likewise either side of the stone (a la Harry Winstone!), but then i cant see a wedding band to sit tight and match, any ideas?

thank you

i think i want a skinnier marquise than this one.... but you get the idea.

If you want to get a band that will sit flush, you will want to make sure that the basket of your ring doesn''t have a gallery (i.e. it curves in towards the shank so that the basket is the same width at the base as the shank). If you get a regular basket, you will have to get a custom made band that curves around the basket of your setting. I think a baguette eternity band would be really pretty with your ring.

Here''s one that I like: http://signedpieces.com/item.cfm?item_id=1834

oooo your right kcoursolle, that is a lovely band... as you said, i dont want a v-shaped band, as i might not always want to wear the engagement ring.

One question though, as channel set rings have less light, does that mean they sparkle less than in a different setting?

thank you for the advice

Hmmm, not sure actually. With well-cut rounds they shouldn''t sparkle much less because almost all of the light should be reflected back through the top of the stone rather than the sides. However, with bags I''m not sure this would be as true. Hopefully an expert will chime in.
