Hello! My fiance got me a stunning engagement ring that he had custom made from Bez Ambar!! It is gorgeous
30.gif
and I LOVE it, however, I have NO clue what to get for my wedding band. I tried just a platinum band, but it looks awful and takes away from the ring. Then I tried the diamond weding band from Bez Ambar that goes with this ring, and the price was $$$$ and I just just don''t have the heart to ask my fiance to spend all that money on my band!!!

What would you all think if I mixed my quadrillion cut (side diamonds) engagement ring with wedding band that had just princess cut diamonds on it? It would have to be a thin channel band just like my engagement ring. Do you think it would match up OK?

I am clueless...... Any thoughts?

Here is one photo to give you an idea what it looks like! (I have never done this before, so I hope the photo is attached!)

Can you give a shot what has a closer pic of the side stones?

The quadrillion cut is very similar to the princess...if it were me, I'd pop into a jewelry store, try on a few princess channel set rings against your e-ring to see how they look...I'm betting they'll match wonderfully!! I'd definitely look into a princess band before forking out serious $$$ for a quadrillion band...

ETA: BTW, LOVE the ring.

OK, here is another photo, but it is not that great. I just cannot seem to get very good close-up shots, but I will keep trying. Maybe tomorrow if the rain every stops!

Yes it''s raining cats and dogs here too!!! Isn''t quadrillion just a branded name for princess cuts???

Congratulations on your engagement. Your ring is beautiful. Did you ask your fiance what he thought about doing for your wedding band? Maybe he had intended on buying the matching band. Just a thought!

Kaleigh, that''s what I thought too! I thought it was just a brand for princesses. If this is the case, Runnerhams, I would try a simple channel-set princess band

Doing a little research (which I didn''t include in the first post) basically dug up that it is a branded cut, with a few fewer facets than a princess cut, and "maximized for sparkle and brilliance". Which basically means YES, it''s branded, and YES, it looks pretty much the same as a princess!!!!...which is definitely why I think you should try on some princess bands!!!!

I was dying for that Ambar setting about 3 or 4 years ago when I originally wanted to change my e-ring setting. It is gorgeous!

I think as long as you get a band that has well cut princesses in it (i.e. like one from Signed Pieces) it would be beautiful with your e-ring. Most mall stores don''t have bands with nice princesses in them.

I thought so too but I wasnt brave enought to say. Have you seen a princess cut channel band Runnerhams? What size ring do you were, about how wide of a band do you pan on wearing as your e-ring? What is your genral price range? Do you want a full eternity band, a half, or a five stone? Just from the pictures I was thinking something like this? It is a princess cut band is it similair to what you were hopeing to find? If not tell us what needs to change and I will try to help and I am certian others will too.

Or maybe this one from Signed Peices? (that last one was from J&M).

Both of these rings would be PERFECT, except that with my Bez Ambar engagement band, you can hardly see any platinum, so the whatever I got the channel setting would have to be much thinner. Am I making any sense?

A little about my ring:
30.gif
My center stone is a 2.04 G, SI1, and my Bez Ambar engagement band is 3.5 mm, one carat of F/VVS2 quadrillion cut diamonds. Ring size 5.5. As you can imagine, I am a bit nervous about putting any wedding band next to it that doesn''t sparkle and look as white as the engagement band does. (I personally think the F/VVS2 quad diamonds help my center stone even look whiter!

)

I believe my fiance purchased this ring with the thoughts that a nice 2-3 mm plain platinum band would look nice with it. Now months later when we go pick out the wedding band, I don''t like the look as it takes away from my diamond ring! He agrees with me and doesnt like a plain band with it either! So....... I told him I thought a slightly smaller 2-3 mm eternity band would nice.

I told him I would consider a "half" of an eternity band, but if I had my druthers, I would want a full one becuase it would bug me if the half eternity kept turning around and I saw the platinum showing instead! (I see this on all the girls at work -- funny how I notice rings now!)

I swear, I am not a Bridezilla, nor do I want my fiance to second mortgage the house in order to purchace my band, but I just dont know what is the best solution! He says he wants me to be happy and I should get want I want, but when we got the price a for a Bez Ambar eternity band [$$)], he suggested we look at other options. To be honest, I agree too. They have beautiful jewelry, but something else has to match, right?!?!

It is supposed to rain here all week, so once the sun comes out, I promise to post better photos on Show Me the Ring! Until then, here is another look:

(And thanks for all your advice!)

Those are beautiful pics sunshine or no sunshine. Doesn''t ambar make a matching diamond band??

Yes, Ambar does have a half-eternity band that they display with this e-ring, but is a 3.5 mm and I want something not quite as thick. Even if I were to have Bez Ambar custom make a 2-3 mm "half" eternity band, I would still have to deal with it "twirling around" and the platinum showing instead. I am beginning to think that might be my only option though -- a half eternity band in order to cut down on cost and have something that looks decent with it. Hmm...

Geesh, I am starting to feel high maintainance. What''s a girl to do?

I would simply contact a few vendors, peruse a few of their websites to see if they have, or can make, a ring that matches the rims of platinum on your e-ring. There''s nothing about the quad stones that necessitated having the rims so thin, so I''m sure it could be done with non-branded princess stones. The vendors may not have rings in stock with rims that thin, and it may have to be a custom job. If so, I''d simply ask them to price out a semi-eternity versus a full eternity band and then make your decision. Telling them your finger size and how wide you want the band will allow them to figure out what size stones and how many stones they''ll need, so they can give you an accurate quote.

Don''t worry about the princess band not sparkling!! My wedding band is a channel-set, half eternity princess and baguette cuts and I assure you it sparkles very nicely! As long as the cut of the stones is good, sparkle shouldn''t be a problem and won''t look dull next to your e-ring. I know that Signed Pieces is very reputable in terms of the quality and cut of their stones, if you are considering them. They are also fairly priced. Let us know what you are deciding upon! When is the big day?

There are a number of vendors here on PS who make lovely custom things. I think any one of them could makes eaxctly what you are looking for, also you could always 3/4 eternity band.

A couple of months ago I bought a channel set princess eternity band from Signed Pieces. I exchanged it for a round prong set one (b/c my solitaire was round and it looked better iwith it) but the platinum on the princess one was very thin - like your Ambar setting. I wish I had the pics on my computer to show you but I deleted them. If you do a seach with my name I''m sure they''ll come up. I believe the band was under 3 mm and their diamonds are premium - ideal cut.

SP has a great 30 day return policy. Have you considered ordering one from there to see if you like it?
