I was planning on wearing this top with a black short-but-not-quite-mini satiny looking skirt with black heels for an evening wedding, then reusing the outfit for my office Christmas party the week after. Is this okay? I''m worried it might be a touch informal. Was also planning on getting a headband with the peacock feather on it. Thoughts?

I think the top is elegant and formal but the ''short-but-not-quite-mini'' skirt sounds the opposite...well, by that I mean informal (not the opposite of elegant!). Do you have a pic of the skirt?

I would wear an a-line knee-length black satin skirt or even a knee-length pencil skirt. Something like these so you can get an idea of the shape I''m talking about:

This is an adorable shorter skirt that''s not too informal (except I just noticed that it''s wool...but I love the shape):

And I just bought a skirt like this one, which I think would look great with your top:

Or, a cheaper jersey version from American Apparel (I have the pencil and mini versions of these skirts and I wear my pencil skirt to work all the time):

Post a pic of your skirt if you can...it may be better than all of these I''ve suggested!

Hmmm...I think that is a bit informal for a wedding. But I don''t know what the wedding is like?

Do you have a dress that you could maybe wear instead? Or possibly a sweater with something sparkly to throw over the outfit to at least dress it up a little bit?

Thanks sammy for the suggestions! Unfortunately the wedding is next week, so if I need something else I''ll have to find it locally. Okay here''s the outfit on me. The skirt isn''t horribly short on me, mini was an exaggeration.

I''ll probably wear tights/hose or something. Right? So what do you think?

Glam it up a little with jewelry - maybe rock the dark hose and some awesome pumps for a wedding - and I think it works!!

Ok... I have to say that I really don''t think that skirt is appropriate for a wedding. I''d get something that covered my knees at least. Just my opinion though...

Actually, I think it looks great! I was picturing shorter

. Would you consider tucking the shirt in? I think it would formalize the oufit a bit...then add some jewelry, hose and cute shoes. I''ve worn above-the-knee dresses to weddings before (mind you, one time the groom''s dad called my dress ''saucy'') but if you''re fairly covered up then I think it''s ok.

Have fun!

Hmmm...I can''t tuck the shirt in because the skirt is a lil snug around the waist.

Guess I''m going shopping this weekend! Maybe I can find a pencil that doesn''t make my hips look humongous? Stupid wide hips...haha.

HI:

That style of skirt has a very limited repitoire. Dark tights and high pumps if it is a keeper.

Perfect excuse to go shopping!

I have a gorgeous floor-length satin skirt that would work really well with that top, it would dress it up enough for a wedding. Maybe you can find something like that. Velvet may work, too, if you live in a cold climate.

What kind of wedding is it? What time of day and location? What did the invites look like? Engraved formal? Or informal?

I spent all day at the mall yesterday trying on every dress and skirt I could find and nothing. Nothing!

I''m too weirdly shaped and may be stuck with this...

Hi Haven, it''s an evening wedding, I think semi-formal taking place at a rustic farmhouse. The invites were on a turquoise metallic stock with brown writing. The couple actually won a $50,000 wedding so it''ll be fun to see!

If it''s all you have, then make do! It''s a beautiful top, it really is. Can you borrow a long black evening skirt from anyone? If not, you can dress up that outfit.

It sounds like it''s going to be a really fun event, can''t wait to hear about it!

Oy, so after all that, I found a skirt! In my closet of all places...

I thought it was too small but it fits. Hurray! A-line knee-length and flouncy, it''s my favorite skirt! Thanks everyone for your help!!

I would suggest long black pants with a sheen and heels. Really digging the peacock feather! Don''t put turquoise eye shadow on. Keep it neutral and go bold on the lipstick.

Hey SunnyD!

Yay for finding the skirt! I assume you were referring to the peacock feather starset suggested? Have you tried Forever21? It was the first place I thought of that was inexpensive and filled with accessories...
