i said...yep,you are an old geezer and people will laugh at ya.

sooo...should women wear longer shorts as they get older?
Hell, I guess mine should be hovering around my ankles then, along with everything else!

What a great way to start my day DF

I''m a shorts-hater. I think they''re the work of the Devil. No-one ever looks good in them! Just about everybody in the world would look better in a skirt of the same length (yes, men too - Utilikilt, anyone?).

That said, I just bought a pair of short-shorts (I bought a dress that''s slit up to my hips on both sides, so, for modesty reasons ....). I have to admit, in the privacy of my own home, they''re a little fetching. A skirt that short would be a belt. But, for outdoor wear? Dude, no. I have tap pants that cover more than that!

So, bottom line: no shorts, ever, no matter how cute you are; people with great legs, irrespective of age, rock the minis!

There are a lot of things the majority of the population should NOT wear. I happen to be quite unappreciative of women wearing strapless tops or dresses with either back fat or armpit fat overlapping the top of said strapless garment, or both in many cases.

I''m 5''10", have a 34" inseam, very nice skin, shapely legs, and at 33 years old I will wear my 3" inseam white shorts with pride because they look fabulous. Capri length pants do not make me look stumpy, especially when I wear 3-4" heels with them. This genetically blessed lady will ROCK whatever she feels like until whatever age she doesn''t feel the need to rock it any longer, thankyouverymuch.

I can''t stand seeing ANYONE in really short shorts..it drives me nuts...but I guess it is ''to each his own''

P.S. my white pants look HOT on me, if I do say so myself.

Hahahahahah, I shall post once I get back from class!

hhaha.

That last one had possibilities. Nothing that a head to toe waxing and 6 months with a PT wouldn''t fix...

Shorts. If you have great gams....rock em!

It''s stinking hot here...I''m in longer shorts a lot. I''m always on the go with 3 kids so dresses don''t always match the activity. Sometimes I am willing to sacrifice comfort for something a little more demure than shorts.

I''m right there with you. My mom is 60 and can still rock 3" shorts. No cellulite in sight, and nice, slim legs. I do feel genetically blessed that I took after her in that department. I was at the pool yesterday and really felt bad for some of the ladies there who would look great if they made knee-length swimwear, but instead they had to walk around with floor length towels/sarongs until the last second before jumping into the pool!

Ehhh..maybe they just like sarong''s? I personally just love the way sarong''s look and will wear them because they''re cute not because I hate my legs

Nope, unfortunately not. I actually got glimpses of the most severe cases of cellulite I''ve ever seen on relatively slender women.

I love those pics! I really shouldn''t have wandered over here from my usual forum . . . LOL

I agree shorts should look good on people who wear them, and I see more too-short errors than long short errors. But I do have a CONTROVERSIAL opinion on shorts and their kin. You ready?

NO capris!
23.gif

Sorry, I call them ''leg shorteners''. I don''t care how old or how young, they just make everybody look stubby. I am hoping to see them banned.

Especially in white.

Another controversial opinion: you ready?

NO white pants either.

On anybody. Ever. I live in FL and I swear to God, when the ladies hit 60, they drag them into a little room somewhere and stuff them into white capris. Or size 12 white pants on their withered size 6 frames. I call them OLP''s (old lady white pants). And yes, they make your butt look fat. Every. Single. Pair.

IMHO . . .
And they all get them from QVC!

Only people without an iota of cellulite and absolutely perfect bodies, young or not, should even consider wearing shorts. Men included.

Older women, even if they''re thin, can have the dreaded skin hang above the knee. It''s called gravity, and it happens to all of us.

Isn''t that why God created capris?

I guess, my mom is a young woman at 60. She''s visiting in 3 weeks, I can''t wait to smap a picture of my young mom in her shorts to post on PS!

I only started to wear shorts in the last few years. My legs are really long so shorts always look really short on me. I have to wear a 36" inseam if I don''t want my pants to be too short, and I''m only 5''10", so I''m half leg. For a long time I didn''t like to bring that to anyone''s attention.

Then I wore shorts to a friend''s house for a pool party and saw pictures and video of myself after the party, and realized that I looked great in those shorts! All of my friends made a big deal about the shorts, too, because they had never seen me in them and they thought I looked awesome. Now I like to wear shorts with heeled sandals.

My DH is happy because he''s been trying to get me to wear shorts in the summertime for years.

I blame all those years of field hockey. My legs have been rock solid since high school.

I prefer capris but will wear shorter shorts on occasion as long as they are not tight. I work out and by butt is amazing.

I''m probably guilty of wearing shorts considered too short for my age (40 something), but feel my legs look pretty good. The problem with my figure, sometimes things actually fit better in misses, but the styles there, well, too much.
My grandmother had long slim legs her entire life and into her sixties still still dyed her hair blonde and kept it long (often in a low bun) and wore shorts and capris, often with high heeled sandals. It didn''t strike me as strange at the time, in fact I loved how she dressed up.

Here is a pic of me from a couple years ago (me on the left). If I had a scanner I would show you a pic of my grandmother and her gams

AMEN!

Monarch i am with you! ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLl the Way!

I will be 37 this year, am 5''6" and I rock my tone size 6 body! I say: "Whatever your age...if YOU love the clothes, if the clothes flatter YOUR body and shape, then YOU betta ''rock that body''!''

YEAH BABY!

Short shorts (where your cheeks are pretty much hanging out) are never good. Besides those I say wear what flatters you and you feel comfortable in. The pictures are both gross yet hilarious.

PG...yours look way better then mine.

I am in shape and have always had really strong legs. I wore short shorts most of my life because I have pretty short legs - anything over a 3" inseam makes me look really stumpy, plus having short legs means that even short shorts don''t look... well, short.

However, despite my pretty healthy diet, 5+ day a week exercise routine, the fact that I''m still in my 20s, and my size 4 pants, I STILL have managed to get cellulite. I think it''s somewhat genetic, because a) family members have it and b) I''m not large! I''m in athletic shorts nowadays if I''m not at work, and honestly I am not sure if I should care that I am revealing those imperfections. Eh, at least I''m active!

As long as they cover your booty-cheeks, I say rock ''em!

That''s the only thing I absolutely can not stand, and certainly do not understand - the girls/women who walk around with their butt cheeks coming out of the bottom of their shorts. WHYYYY?!?

Why thanks DF

Though not on topic I do have to say my husband has damn fine legs too.

I think they don''t realize that their cheeks have dropped with age? I don''t know...I am always checking myself at every angle in the mirror before I leave the house!
