we are getting tons of rain but I'm thrilled because our sandpit that our house is on looks horrible if we don't water constantly. Horray for mother nature saving me some money on my water bill!
We planted:
Corn, peanuts, yellow squash, tomatoes, cucumber, watermelon, cantaloupe, peppers (jalapenos, tabasco, hot banana, cayenne) and sweet potato.
So far, everything is thriving minus the peanuts (no show) and the sweet potato (darn rabbits!)
we also have about 15 wild blackberry bushes
which currently equates to about a pint of berries a day
Oh, lucky lucky you! Your garden is super! Love the blackberries, my favorites. We had them in San Francisco, but between DH and the birds, I could never manage to gather any. Gotta be fast!
Y'all make me delighted to have a well. Haven't paid a water bill in the last 20 yrs -- 3 houses all had wells. Luckily no problems even during long droughts, though they always make me a little nervous.
Laurie-its not that bad here.
We have a small well and also 2 550 gallon tanks & 1 - 1550 gallon tank reservoir that collects what rain we get.
we then use that water to water the grass, saplings and the garden.
it's just, we want to have the reservoir built up for the hot summer. We have gotten quite a bit of rain so I'm happy all around.
Kelinas, your garden is gorgeous!!! you are so far ahead of us. I agree, it is so nice to not have to water my garden is lovin it too but it is not near as full as yours. Enjoy all those wonderful veggies!
it is nice to be able to wall outside and get stuff, rather than purchusing them at the.store.
this area that I live in has had a record low in rainfall for the last 5 years. if you were to Combine the total rainfall for the last 5 years, it Equals a typical one year rainfall.
but this year is GREAT!
and Kenny,
PS hates my.phone pictures. the only way I can seem to upload them is if I edit them and move them.
Adding the B/W frames is the easiest way to.edit them without changing the actual picture
but I'm glad you like it.
