We just dropped the largest non-nuclear bomb on Afghanistan

Yes, but the underground cave that they were going for was in Afghanistan.

So hopefully that will be one less place they can hide in and cause havoc.
 
Skimmed the thread to see if anyone spoke to this issue. I admit to not having facts. I only heard of this on the radio. Did no reading at all yet. What I heard-which may be erroneous-is that the huge bomb was packed with IEDs so that it could reach people inside the cave. My first thought was that the last I knew, anti-personnel weapons were against international law, just as chemical weapons are. Does anyone know about this matter?

Speaking of proving who has the biggest dick in the room North Korea is about to launch another Nuclear test, and that is going to turn ugly even faster if the US starts bombing targets on my side of the world. I believe the tensions between North Korea, the US, China and Japan are a bigger threat to world stability at the moment than ISIS.
 
Bush and Obama both had access to this bomb and never felt the need to use it. What was the urgency in dropping this bomb today?

I just dont understand anything about this sh*t show of an administration. If there was a good reason for dropping this bomb, WHY did Stupid Spice run out of the press briefing and refuse to answer anything??? Why isn't the administration being more open and clear about it? All this stupid nonsense about "HAHA IM NOT TELLING!" is insane--especially AFTER the action has been taken.

I'm just sick of this rollercoaster. I can't wait until the FBI uncovers everything and he goes away forever.
 
I also heard today that British intelligence provided US intelligence with interceptes they obtained between Trumps campaign associates and the Russian government.
 
IMO dropping this bomb on tunnels that the enemy is using to hide saves military lives. The only other way to fight in these conditions is hand to hand inside these tunnels. Other bombs/missiles like the Tomahawk and ones sent from drones do nothing. If we are supposed to be helping the Afghani's to take back their land from ISIS we should provide anything that actually helps them do it and also protects those fighting on the ground. These terrorists want to kill anyone that is not a member. They will use anything as a recruitment tool - bombing, retreat, weakness (look we have those infidels on the run!), coalitions, Trump, Clinton, etc., so I do not believe this changes or ups any recruiting more than anything else. It is the caliphate's purpose to destroy as much of the western world as possible - period.

Deb the MOAB has many small ordinance inside it that create huge concussions underground which is why it was used on the tunnel system to make them collapse. It sounds like there might have been IED's around the tunnel system that were triggered by the MOAB.

Yes, I posted similar excerpt from the Washington Times that it is the IED's that ISIS had booby trapped the tunnels with that are the ones going off.

And yes much safer then sending our troops in there.

Sorry Callie, just saw your post. I have been feeling like you - ill at the thought of everything going on. I have zero faith in Trump, really absolutely none. I've seen no evidence that there is *anything* he is capable of handling with competence. I find the current political situation to be frightening, borderline terrifying. I'm not actually terrified yet, but I'm very scared for our country- and yes, the world. Sorry if that sounds dramatic, but it's how I feel, based on the knowledge that we have an utter fool in charge.

The thing that lets me sleep at night is knowing that Mattis and McMasters seem to be educated, honorable men who will likely try their damndest to keep things together. I am putting all of my hopes on them at this point.

Aw thank you, Callie, I appreciate that. I'm ok, actually probably a bit better overall. I haven't really said too much here on PS about this, but I do struggle with depression and anxiety issues generally (I have for most of my life). I hope to "even out" and get back to normal-ish soon, lol. I know it will happen, it just takes awhile for me sometimes. Anyway sorry to derail - but you're sweet to think of me, that brightens my day. And I hope things are going well your way!

And if that happens all hell will break loose. He'll launch something in retaliation at Japan, at your warships at our warships or all of the above and then some before you take him out..... it isn't going to be a one sided hit like some caves out in the middle of the remote parts of Afghanistan.
 
We need to keep our CRAZY one in check as well. This is all a pissing contest and Trump is antagonizing him. This could turn into World War III.

Trump loved the praise he received after he dropped the bombs in Syria. Thats the reason I think he bombed Afghanistan. We can't make sure our countries children are fed or our people have health care but we never run out of money for a bomb.

No, but that guy in N. Korea is crazier than Trump. He is more likely to start WWIII than Trump.
 
Dancing Fire, They are both crazy. Trump does not have the temperament to be President. Firing off tweets when you are dealing with a crazy person is NOT smart. Trumps actions have the capability to put us all in harms way. His actions have consequences. I would think you would very sensitive to this living in California. If North Korea fires a missile the damn thing is headed toward your state. I find all of this deeply upsetting.

When are you going to quit defending him? Oh yeah, let's talk about Hillary's emails.

I'm not defending him, but on the other hand we can't allow the crazy nut in N. Korea threaten our asian allies. Don't worry ...I can sleep at night. I'm not worrying about a missile hitting Ca. any time soon.

Thanks to Obama's weakness as Perz. our adversaries around the world have had become more powerful in the past 8 yrs.

Yeah, and now it's Trump who has to deal with it and whining about "the mess that he's been left with" is no longer constructive -- specially when there are active developments happening. Calling Hillary a liar isn't going to cut it anymore. The buck stops with Trump. I believe his supporters said something to the effect of 'Trump won, deal with it'.

But does Trump have an actual plan for dealing with the hot spots that have popped up in the world? Or is his "plan" like the ACA "repeal and replace plan" that he said was going to be "great"? Scary thought.

By the way, you would do well to remember that Seoul, population well over 10 million, sits inside North Korea's missile strike zone before glibly proposing any sort of attack on North Korea. Geopolitics, like healthcare, is complicated.
