We got married

Congratulations!

Kenny,
I love what you wrote:
I will confess, it feels nice to be married.
That surprises me a great deal.

I'm happy for you and your mate, but you were already there. I think you're looking at this so right..

$66 for the license, $17 for the optional piece of fancy paper, and four quarters for the parking meter.
We kept to our wedding budget, $84.

My dad used to say his wedding license was the best $5 he'd ever spent.
Congratulations to you both. May it be the best $84 you've ever spent.

So happy for you Kenny! Glad that it was exactly what you and your husband wanted! Wishing you many more years of happiness together!!

I DID see that you wrote "my husband" in that post. Congratulations to you, Kenny, and your now very significant other.

Congratulations!

Best wishes to you and your husband for a lifetime of happiness, prosperity and good health!

D'wah, congratulations on your marriage! <3
What a perfect wedding.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

It is wonderful to you now benefit from partner/spousal laws such as insurance, beneficiaries, health visitation and other instances where the other spouse or you can have say.

I'm delighted you got that piece of paper.

Best wishes, Kenny, for a long and happy marriage! I love that you did it your way!

Wishing you all the joy love can bring!

Congrats! Great that you did it your way!

Congrats!!!! Yes, benefits for your husband and likewise for you.

I think you need kids, and I nominate myself… then I can inherit some beautiful baubles! Lololol.

Congratulations, @kenny! (You look marvelous in yellow, btw.)

Congrats Kenny!

Big congrats you you both! :kiss2:

Congrats Kenny. I'm with your hubby - find a man that bake a loaf of bread and marry them!

This is Pricescope, Kenny. NOT the society pages in your local newspaper circa 1960. So…

WHERE ARE THE RING SHOTS?

And with that out of the way, Congratulations on your marriage, and on doing it exactly your way! I wish you and your husband many years filled with joy, wonder, laughter, and mutual respect and support.

Congratulations to you & your Hubby:appl:

Congratulations and many years of joy and happiness together!

WOW, everybody!
I'm really overwhelmed by all the support and good wishes. :kiss2:

Nobody in my real life even knows we married, except my DH.
(First time I can type DH!)

It's weird, in real life "I vant to be left aloooone".
I_want_to_be_left_alone.jpg
But in a little corner of the Internet I've found a sort of family that I trust.

It's nice, very nice.
Thank you.

Congratulations on your marriage, for doing it your way, on your timeline and for your reasons. Seems like the way all marriages should go. Wishing you and your spouse many more happy healthy years.

Congratulations Kenny!

HI:

Congrats!!!

cheers--Sharon

It was a few months back.
I didn't bother starting a thread about it till Matata mentioned me writing, "my husband", in MillieLou's 'special occasion' thread.
We're both very low-hoopla people, and didn't seem worth mentioning here.
I don't go to weddings or funerals; I just don't.
We're both extreme introverts who despise being a public spectacle.
We are both think-for-yourself-and-do-your-own-thing kind of people, and not go-along-with-the-crowd types.

"Tell us all about your wedding", you say?

Well, there wasn't one.
We just went to the local courthouse.
I'm the one in yellow and white heels.

Exciting Details?
Clothing was just whatever we were wearing that day, probably shorts, T-shirts and flip flops.
Our clothing didn't match, and I don't recall whether anything was white.
Nothing borrowed, old, and I don't remember whether anything was blue.
The only thing new was our N95s.
I saw no particular reason to shave.

No rings, I still just wear my Octavia on that "marriage" finger for practical reasons, but it never was a "relationship' ring
No particular symbolism or meaning, since marriage does not prove love, and love does not need marriage
No prepared vows, just whatever the county clerk uses
No bouquet, garter, or jock strap tossing
No bridesmaid or best man
Nobody gave anyone away
No broomstick jumping
No religious anything
No groomal shower
No name changing
No gifts, or registry
No rice throwing
No unity candle
No honeymoon
No koran, et. al
No celebration
No blood tests
No invitations
No reception
No bouquet
No partying
No weeping
No dancing
No flowers
No alcohol
No photos
No videos
No guests
No family
No cake
No veil
No DJ

We enjoyed our perfect dream wedding, exactly as we wanted it.
... zero wasted money, quick, quiet, low carbon footprint, minimalist, and as low key as possible.
$66 for the license, $17 for the optional piece of fancy paper, and four quarters for the parking meter.
We kept to our wedding budget, $84.
It's nice that in California you don't even need a witness if you pay $5-extra for a confidential license.

He hasn't told his family.
I asked why and he said something like, "No reason to tell them."
I love this man.

I'd like to say something here that I forgot to say in the recent thread, "Why did you get married?
I answered, "We both did it for the insurance."
Many people answered, "For Love".
I can't help but imagine most people were very proud to answer "for love", and feel other answers are not as good as "for love".

But I guarantee we both love each other more than many who marry for love - which BTW has a 50% divorce rate.
You can be 100% in love without marriage, and some folks marry being 0% in love.

I will confess, it feels nice to be married.
That surprises me a great deal.

TIA if there are any congratulations here.

Best wishes, Kenny and hubs!

Mazel Tov and best wishes to you both.

Kenny,
Just reread this again. "No rings, I still just wear my Octavia on that "marriage" finger for practical reasons, but it never was a "relationship' ring"
Now the Octavia tells the world you're spoken for. And your reasons remain as private as ever. Perfect.

Congratulations Kenny!

How fantastic you had your wedding on your terms. Congratulations on your happy day.
