Chanel and LV cleaned me out. I bought my wife a medium size classic calfskin for her BD and a classic wallet on chain for each of our daughters. These were all purchased in Paris. I think had we purchased in Italy it would have been a little cheaper. My friends purchased an identical YSL bag the one purchased from Italy was a bit cheaper.

Did you apply for the VAT refund?

Yes, strange ...LV VAT refund was 11.9% vs Chanel 13%. This was in Paris . My friends purchased identical YSL handbags but the one purchased in Italy was a bit cheaper vs the one purchased in Paris b/c Italy offer a bit higher VAT refund. The MSRP was the same price in both country.

I visited like 8 different LV stores in Paris and most of their SA were A$$ holes. Their attitude was like "if you don't buy from us it is your lost" .

I guess you can have a bad attitude towards your customers when your store is always packed with customers plus a standing line waiting outside. On the other hand SA at Chanel and YSL stores were very polite and offered us soda, bottled water and champagne while we were browsing.

Nothing better than a few Chanel bags as souvenirs from Paris! Two of my favorite bags! Lucky wife and daughters! I think each European country has a different % refund for VAT. From my experience, Netherlands was the lowest, I got back something like 11%.
