I''m sure this has been answered before, but a search didn''t return exactly what I wanted so please excuse me if I''m repeating a question already answered.

When you are shopping for a princess cut diamond, is there anything to look for when looking at the angles? I know the HCA is only for rounds, is there anything similiar for princess cuts?

Thanks!

I don''t know if you have seen this chart, but it might help. http://diamonds.pricescope.com/fnc1.asp

Make sure you use any suggested proportions/ numbers as a guide only, as Princess and other fancy shapes can''t be properly evaluated by the numbers, they need to be seen, so if buying online, don''t underestimate the importance of detailed photographs and ASET images if available.

Looking at AGS0 stones is also a great way to easily find a well-cut princess. Ideal scope images and assets can help from there.

There is no such thing for fancy shapes as the HCA for rounds.

When using the charts, linked by Lorelei, do not use these on AGS-graded fancy shapes.

The new AGS cut-grade for fancy shapes has made these charts basically obsolete as AGS was the first, and still the only lab, grading the Cut quality of fancy shapes.

AGS grades are are based on light performance rather than proportions analyses.
