I hear there were 5 eggs and 2 have hatched.
Watch Molly the mommy owl with her chicks.
McGee is the daddy.

There is even sound.
It must not be deep in a wilderness because you can hear evidence of humans, like motors, perhaps lawnmowers.

It is from San Marcos California USA, which is between Los Angeles and San Diego or Sandy Eggo, as they say.

This really shouldn't be that interesting but I find it fascinating.
I can see how some people would find it as exciting as watching paint dry.

We live in the middle of a huge city and don't get much experience of nature.

Just got a screen capture.
Looks like two eggs have hatched.

Oh wow! They are so cute!

Ooh! Barn owls!

Thanks for the link, Kenny!

My kids and I have been enjoying this! 3 have hatched and #4 should be hatching today.

adorable! :) I love how the internet brings so much cuteness to my fingertips :)

It appears both of the last eggs now have pipping holes in them - or maybe it's dirt.

This link has a nice write up on the barn owls.
The father must kill 70+ rodents a night to feed the family.

feeding time right now, 4th egg should hatch tonight!

This is cool!

Fuzzy pic but they turned on the infared cam for night vision.
Daddy, aka McGee, just delivered an unlucky rat for their first course.
It is the dark thing she's holding it in the lower left corner.

Mom is shredding it up now and giving to the chicks, which are screaming their little heads off.

Cute pic Kenny! Who wouldn''t love little faces like that?! My cat has been watching the owl cam as intently as I have. I''ll have to post pics when I can get them off DH''s phone.

That would be a cute pic, the kitty watching the puter.

Oh Look! Daddy brought a yummie mousie second course.

Molly and McGee got a mention on NPR this morning. I guess they''re now celebrities!

Cute! We have peregrine falcons here and they have a live webcam site as well. A friend of mine works for DNR and is actually checking on IN''s eagles tomorrow in a helicopter, they have 151 nest locations to check all over the state so it takes them something like 4 days. She has a awesome job!

If you haven''t already checked out the owlcam, it''s well worth a look! The guy who put up the owl box (at his wife''s insistence

) Posted an on-line narration and question-and-answer session he held for an elementary school class here: http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/5881753. They''ve also archived clips of big moments, like one of the chicks hatching, so you can just see the highlights rather than waiting for them...

I''ve been watching the owl box for several days and even ordered a mug. Thanks Kenny for posting this. I am addicted to watching these beautiful creatures.

I just checked out the offerings... I''m thinking a mouse pad might be appropriate!
