Washing machine recommendations?

My current machine is a Siemens @baby nurse and is 17 years old! Never had a problem with water leakage. Top loaders with agitators have never been popular for domestic use in the U.K. prior to front loaders, people had twin tubs (before my time!)

Yes, Speed Queen!! I had an LG front loader and it lasted four years before needing it's first repair, and then needed more work a year later. So I asked the repair guy which brands/types should I consider and he said Speed Queen. They're made like they used to be and last 25 years.

I did the research, and that's what I went for. $600, which compared to the $1200+ front loaders that break in 4-5 years, is a deal and a half. Two years in, and I love it. Simple, does the job well, clothes are in great condition, and I am not missing any features or perks that other machines offer.

HI:

Am thinking of a Speed Queen. Top load. Need to do my homework.

cheers--Sharon

I have never had issues with mold or smells with my Samsung front loader. I do run about 4 cups of white vinegar through it every six weeks or so. I also take a cloth soaked in water and vinegar and run it around the seals. I would run a cycle with white vinegar through any machine. Years ago I had to have a repair man come out for a previous washer and he told me to do that and that it extends the life of your machine. It dissolves any gunk that could cause you problems down the road.

How much vinegar in how much water?
