Here is my Easter Sunday *hint* to FF.

(Note: This is NOT how he proposed - I am still very much in waiting. But it wouldn''t make too bad of a proposal idea, now would it?)

Both names have been blurred out, but the orange egg to the left had FF''s name on it, and the pink egg to the right had my name on it.

OT: How did you get the eggs so brightly coloured?

Part of it was the fact that they''re sitting in a lime green bowl, and I took the photo in dim light with flash on. But mostly, it''s because we left them in the dye for a long time. My 4 year old niece colored most of them, and we had about 10 cups of dye going at a time, so it was extremely easy just to forget about them in the dye and pull them out after they had been wayyy over-dyed.

As for the dye, we used regular old PAAS kits (we had a few of them, some "neon" colors). Some of the eggs were dyed once in one color and once in another. Some were striped, polka dots, etc (except none of those were in the bowl when I took the photo because the prettiest ones usually get eaten first.) And a couple of them were "painted" using "Paint Snaps" (q-tips with dye on the inside - came in a pack of four - we let my niece do the painting), also PAAS.

Also, after they are dyed and dried, we rub the outside with a little bit of olive oil on a towel to make them shine. We accidentally rubbed these a little too hard, which made the color come off a bit - explaining the streaks and "scratches" in some of them.

It''s all just plain old trial and error (usually with plenty of error).
