Wanted: Job Dust!

I don''t usually ask, but I am really excited about this job.

As an undergrad, I was highly involved with a campus org. I was on the campus executive, then regional board, went to conferences all across the country with the org, and it was more like a family than hard work. (FI was in it too). Anyway, it is a professional organization, and they are hiring for a job that is PERFECT for me... and the kicker, it''s right down the street. Like, one street, but 5-6 miles down.

So, if you have any spare dust lying around, send it my way. I''m headed down there to take my resume in person.

I haven''t been really excited about a job in a while, and I''m hoping I still have enough contacts in the field to push this one over into my favor

I guess time will tell. I''d love to be hired before their national conference, since I would be ''required'' to travel

It is exciting because I am intimately familiar with the programs, mission and goals of this org, as well as the lingo. It''s always so daunting at a new job to have to get up to speed with all the job speak. I''m still looking for other positions as well, but can''t help but hope that this one comes through. Nothing wrong with hope though... speak it in to existence, no?

So let's see. My friend spoke to the hiring manager about my app, and the hiring manager was excited to recieve it. So that's a plus. (friend is on the national e-board of this comany, and was president of the campus org when I was on the e-board in undergrad, so she knows me and my involvement very well.)

I spoke to someone at their hiring agency (long story), and they said they had recieve 4-5 total referrals and about 25 general applications. Honestly, it's my least favorite thing about this job market. There are so many OVERqualified people looking for jobs, that it makes it really tough. Anyway, I'm still hopeful. They are reviewing applications, and hope to hire to start May 1... which is later than I would like, but what can you do. At least I have a little more info now and don't have to stare at my phone hoping for a call.

Thanks everyone for the dust, Kitcha, Kama, Maisie, DF, Panda, Haven, Luckyeshe! I clearly still need it!
