hello everyone I am a newer poster but a long time lurker...

. I like so many here have been infected by halo fever and it just so happens that I''ve almost convinced my husband that it is time to replace my lost engagment ring (long sad story). Thanks to the beautiful examples I have seen here I have decieded upon going the halo route. I just can''t decide wether to go for a 1 or 1.5 ct. center stone, I''m concerned that the 1ct won''t be a big enough bang, but that the 1.5 might be too big(DH hates "big" rings and thinks they look fake...men!). I guess I''m just having a hard time envisioning how much finger the ring will actually take up with the added halo. I would love to see what 1 and 1.5ct center stone halo''s look like so that I can compare. My fingers are size 6 btw. If some of you could post your ever oh so pretty rings along with size stats so I could compare I would be grateful.
Thanks it''s good to be here

honestly, the best way to tell what is too big is to big on you is to try and get to some jewelry stores and see and try on rings in person. Here is a pic of mara size 6 hand trying on the Whiteflash bezel halo that has a 1 carat center stone.

I love that ring. It''s so pretty in person.

historychick, you might find one or two nice halo designs on Pricescope! LOL! Regarding size, I recently tried on a Richard Landi halo ring style 1932 that was set with a 2 ct. (8mm) CZ (photo attached). I was amazed that it did not feel or look too big and gaudy on my hand (I wear a size 5.5 on my right hand which is where I would be wearing it). I also tried on style 1969 which was a simpler halo designed for a 1.5 ct. (7.4mm). It definitely did not feel too big. Here is a link to #1969, second row, far right:

The good thing about halos is that you can have a 1 ct. and have it looking more like a 1.5 ct. by virtue of the halo styling, especially with the bezel set halos, like the Endless Love collection by Ritani. Now if I could just afford a 2 ct.!

thanks for the link neverending upgrade...those rings are beautiful! I hear ya about the 2ct diamond by the way !

thanks mrssalvo that pic you posted gives me a great size idea for what a 1ct looks like. Any idea on a jewlery store that would carry a decent selection of halos to try on in the Baltimore area?

I don''t know Baltimore, but if you have a Bailey banks and Biddle, they carry Ritani and should have a bunch of halo''s. Also, shane co. and Jareds carry many designers that make halo settings now so it would be worth going to look.

I recently bought a halo setting at Jared to hold an old sapphire I had. They have a lot of halos where the center stone is prong set (I guess that makes it easier to pop in a diamond of the customer''s choice). It worked out well for me since my sapphire was about .75 ct. and they were basically able to set it for me so I could wear it home right away.

If you want a bezel set halo, your best bet is to get your diamond first and go custom, with Ritani making some beautiful halos in their Endless Love collection. So many people have nice halos. I don''t know any stores in Baltimore, but you might want to look at the websites of designers like Ritani, Kirk Kara, Richard Landi, Martin Flyer, Saturn Jewels and Beverley K just to give you some ideas (just to name a few favorites).

Beverley K makes some nice halos. If you go to the site, you can view the collection by clicking on "Collections" at the top, then putting in Quality in the user name box and Service in the user pass box, then click on Semi-mounts. I have spent hours looking at halos and those sites have helped me a lot.

I will check out Beverly k and drool over the computor while my husband watches basketball tonight thanks!
