Hi!

You probably know that my native language is not english!

Was on an other english forum who the girls don''t understand really well what I''m writting and it was difficult for me.

Those girls always said that I was rude in my comments. Now I know much rules like I can''t use "Ladies" or thing like that but I always have difficulties to communicate in english.

Since I come here, everybody is nice with me. I''m happy here with you!

I''m a jewelry lover particularly antique and it''s impossible to find discussion board in french.

Just want to tell you how much you are nice with me and if you think I say something wrong, don''t hesitate to help me cause I don''t want to hurt.

Thank you all... you know... when I feel blues, you are my sunshine. When I need information, you are here and never tell me that I''m an idiot.

Love

Well, welcome, and it''s nice to have you here! It''s rude to criticize when someone is speaking/writing in a language they''re not used to, and doubly rude to call someone an idiot. Ignore the rude people and hang out with us! I had only 1 year of a foreign language, (Spanish, in high school), so anyone attempting English will never hear/read a snide word from me!

Oh Sylvie, this is one of the sweetest posts I have ever read! I think your English is very good. Your English skills are far, far better than my French. I am so impressed with people who can communicate in two languages. In fact, sometimes I feel like a dummy that I can't speak or write in another language, and would love to become more fluent in french someday. I am very happy that you are comfortable here. Thank you for such a nice post, you are a lovely person! Oh, and I love antique jewelry too!

Je pense que vous etes tres mignon! Bienvenue chez pricescope!!

OMG! Kama! Thank you!

AprilBaby, PackRat and JuneBug you are adorable! Thank you!

You know, I studied French in high school and even prided myself on my excellent pronunciation but it so happened that I never used it and now I can only read in French. Shortly before my departure to the US I started studying German and was able to communicate in it - but then again, I went to the US where no one speaks this language.

Recently we went to Spain (we do not know Spanish) and for the first time felt how difficult it was not to be able to communicate.

And since I am not a native English speaker I, too, sometimes feel uncomfortable. I am quite OK with English in my practice because it is my area of expertise. But funnily, colloquial English is where I stumble because at home we converse in Russian.

So...if you feel like you are not going to be understood, say it in French. I shall fish out my French-English (or French-Russian) dictionary and try to remember my lessons of French.

I think it is impolite and unwelcoming to label someone "rude" just because she is using "Ladies". ("Mesdames" in French is very polite).

Bienvenu a PS! (sorry for not having French font)

Coming from another poster whose native language is not English, I have to say that PS has been an incredibly kind and hospitable community to me. I doubt you'll ever hear rude comments and insults around here. As a bonus, my English gets a lot better with practice. Hanging out on PS all day long really is usefull in more than one sense

I don''t think you''re difficult to understand at all! Glad you''re here

Bienvenue a Pricescope! We are happy to have you, and I am so glad that you feel comfortable here!

I took French all through school, into college. Feel free to toss a little French my way sometimes... It makes me actually have to remember!

Welcome. The thing that I love about pricescope is the diversity. I''m sure there are people on here who may want to learn French!

Wow, Sylvie, I''m appalled that people on other forums would be so rude. I haven''t come across your posts before, but beinvenue! I''m glad you''re enjoying Pricescope.

Personally, I love that we''ve got people from all over the world on here. You''re doing a lot better on here than I would on a Spanish-speaking forum. (Heck, you''re on here, and I''m not even on a Spanish-speaking forum!)

Welcome Sylvie! Glad to have you. You''re a doll!

Sylvie, I''m so glad to see you online again! You will find this forum to be much more diverse in geography and language. And we have quite a few antique jewelry lovers too! I hope you enjoy posting with us here!!

Sylvie - I haven''t responded to you directly before, but I wanted to say that your post really touched me, and you seem so sweet. I think it''s dreadful that others have criticized you, but wanted to say that I think it''s admirable of you to try to broach language barriers and conquer them :)
