So I'm starting to realize that I may not be using every avenue available to me in the search for a stone for our Christmas engagement ring. So far I've used the Pricescope search engine but I thought I'd open the search up to you fine people.
I have a limited budget of $2,500 max and have been looking in the .75 -.82 ct., eye clean SI1, I, 2.0 or under HCA, Med. - Thick girdle range. Any suggestions?

The two I've narrowed down to so far are:

Waiting on idealscan and real images for both.

How can you tell what the HCA is? Neither of those show the angles on the lab report.

I suggest looking on JA if you are looking at Si1 clarity. You have no way of knowing if either of those are eyeclean. JA is a better choice of vendor for SI1 as all of their stones have not just images but a video.

The ASET and Idealscope on the second diamond you've found look best but it is hard to tell if it is eyeclean so you should ask the vendor before making a decision. The stone Gypsy found has the best angles of all three, I would ask for ASET and Idealscope and go with that one if they look good.

Thanks digether. I just realized that the two urls on my reply were for the same stone. The second has been updated. If you have in fact seen both stones I a little confused. I thought that the idealscope image should have distinct black arrows and as little white areas (light leakage) as possible and stone 6212003 seems better than 6266052 in that aspect. I'm a relative newbie so what am I missing?

Bump for addition of real and idealscope images to the webpage links.

I don't think either of those is going to be eyeclean. Did they say they were eyeclean? Did you ask, and if so what definition of eyeclean is being used?

Just had a delivery of a ring that people may think is not real because of the fire, etc. It cost me $2545 from bluenile .73, i and vs2. GIA crystal and cloud. Nothing you can see with the eye at all. The HCA was 1.4. So sparkly and doesn't look at all yellow. I put many, many diamonds in the HCA from JA and BN. If you stick with it, you will find a few that are highly rated by HCA. I think there were three in my cheapo price range on both sites. It takes hours, but there are some good ones out there. Plain and cheapest setting in 14k white gold. I am thankful to all on here and for the HCA. Very scary to buy a diamond without seeing it. However, I am convinced I saved a bunch. Thank you for educating the consumer!!!

Gypsy,
They said that both were in fact eye clean. Didn't know there were different definitions, what should I be looking or asking for?

Hello GeauxTiger,

The definition used by B2C for 'eye-clean' is:
“No inclusions seen in the face-up orientation at a distance of 25cm, under normal lighting, when viewed by a gemologist with 20/20 vision.”

I hope that helps.

Ask them which one is MORE eyeclean-- in other words which one is less included at closer range. Then go for that one.

Here's b2c's reply:

"Our gemologists have personally examined both the diamonds (6266052 & 6212003) and have found out that the diamond with stock# 6266052 is eye clean and looks much better than the other one and has more fire and brilliance compared to stock# 6212003 because being an I color this diamond has a very slight brown tinge which is only visible under close inspection and therefore we strongly recommend the diamond with Stock# 6266052."

The Idealscope images seem to show the opposite to me as far as fire and brilliance but being a newbie maybe I'm missing something? Also, even though both stones are I in color they say that one has a brown tinge. Does this sound right?
