I'd like to find a pair of diamond stud earrings for my fiance. Time frame is the next few weeks, and budget is $3-5K.

Any suggestions?

Absolutely. What shape?

Do you have a preference for number of prongs.

What metal does she want? Does she have any metal allergies.

Where are you located?

I think anything higher than I color for earrings is a waste of money. And ideal cut J's are VERY white when on the ears.

Two of these would give you 1.4 carat total weight and a lovely 5.7mm of spread on each ear.

I'd put all three on hold (no cost no obligation) and ask the gemologist to pick the two that match best. And then get idealscopes of those.

It will be approximately 4k for the stones. Make sure to ask for the Pricescope discount.

And then you could do either of these settings:

Or this one (same setting, different metals):

http://www.jamesallen.com/earrings/design-your-own-studs/pair-of-18k-white-gold-round-brilliant-6-prong-scalloped-basket-settings-item-2556 18kt.

I would get platinum if she has any metal allergies.

Ugh, we've been so busy planning the wedding stuff that I forgot about needing a wedding gift

No metal allergies, so I suppose white gold. I never looked at the settings before today, but I think the three prong looks nice.

I'll poke around on the pricescope search function today and look at some prices, etc.

How closely would I want to match the two diamonds

Here's an interesting idea...

August Vintage Rounds:
.42ct, I, VS1

.45ct, I, IF

You don't need that high of clarity in earrings, but these are not the kind of stones where you can specify the EXACT parameters.

They appear to be a great match, are under budget, and would certainly be a unique option! GOG has access to A LOT of different earring settings.

Best of luck!

Call Lesley at BGD to find pairs for you. I did this for my daughters earrings, couldn't be happier.

I woudn't touch those 2 with a 10 foot pole, you really don't know what you're getting. Here's what I'd get, http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamond_pair_comparisions/compared_diamond_details/CAGS-104064936103/CAGS-104070408024

Perfectly matched, and you just can't beat a BGD Signature. :appl: :appl: :appl:

I know I haven't spent two minutes thinking about diamonds since I bought her engagement ring, but...

why do you say I wouldn't know what I was getting with the others? they have a GIA certificate, 3X, etc...

GIA excellent is a wide range, some aren't that great at all. and did you even try to look at the cert on the first stone? I did, and got "
Request Diamond Certificate ". You can't even see the measurements. Plus, they don't even have pics of the stones, because they're not in-house. They might not even be eye clean.

Get what you want, but I'd rather have the BGD's any day of the week, and twice on Sundays. Plus, BGD has a great upgrade policy if you decide to go larger down the road.
