Sunnygirl, with this new information I am going to change my answer. I would say that if your father feels that strongly about it, you should give him this gift. If it really means that much to him, let him walk you down the aisle. Honor your mother in a different way. Perhaps have her process down the aisle as part of the wedding, party (escorted) before the bridesmaids.

Sunny - I agree that the added background info does make this a little more complicated. If you feel that this is going to strongly effect your relationship with your father negatively and you are not okay with that...you do have some thinking to do. I love marchswallow''s idea to have you mother walk down the aile escored by someone in your bridal party or another honored person at your wedding (uncle, etc.?). I have seen this done before and it is really special and does really highlight the importance of your mother in the cereomy.
Good luck, let us know what you decide.

this is difficult and I am so very sorry you are having to even deal with this. Why are parents so selfish on a day that is not even theirs.

Is there anyway that you could have your dad walk you in. Have him hug or kiss you or whatever he would do. Than when your dad goes to sit down have your mom stand up to come to you as well in that isle and hug her and kiss her. She would go to sit back down as well and than you walk towards your FI and meet on the alter?

FI and I will be walking half and half and meeting in the middle and walking the rest of the way together.
