Waiting for the 5th day is a long wait when you do a dumb thing.

Today is the 5th day since Wifey and I were in contact with a covid positive person(s).
They started showing symptoms the day after and 3 others have tested positive but the rest so far are negative. The ones that tested positive were positive with in a day of the event which means they probably had it before then also. All 4 are mild to no symptoms and doing well.
Others have tested earlier than the 5 days and were negative.
No symptoms for Wifey and I dont think any for me...but with me the symptom list particularity for omicron reads like any day lately other than a fever and loss of taste/smell.
So we are going in for a pcr test later today because I want the added safety of the better test.
Results in 24-48 hours.

The really dumb part of it is that I had a bad feeling about it and had said I wasn't going to go but went anyway.
Im vaccinated and boosted and wifey is fully vaccinated but not time for a booster yet.
One of the people who has it had covid early on and fully vaccinated but I believe not time yet for a booster.
2 are vaccinated but not sure of boosters.
The 3rd who was not there when we were, I have no idea of her status.

I hope both of you test negative. Sending big virtual bear hug to you. Please don't ignore a bad feeling again and put yourself in jeopardy. You're not too old for a spanking so don't make me come over there.

I know a family ( 6 adults and 1 baby ) that got together on Christmas after all rapid testing negative on Friday. 3 adults and the baby have since tested positive and all are doing well with minimal symptoms. Other friends are in the same situation ( waiting for results from others ) as you but again, minimal symptoms. Good luck!

Blessings to you and your wife for safe passage through this situation.

We're in the same boat. i have a headache and sniffles but that's pretty common for me considering my allergies. With omicron being so contagious, testing sites here are crowded and just as risky as any other crowded indoor situation. Unless I can get a very early appointment, I think riding it out at home and isolating is my next best bet.

Fingers crossed you're both safe and well.

So I have 2 kids in school in NY, rates flew through the roof before they were let out for break. Class sizes were down to a third, so we took them out so they would not get sick before our Christmas trip. I personally know of 10 breakthrough cases so as I see it with the new variant, it will be impossible not to contract the virus. I would rather get it doing something enjoyable. We all need to have a plan and doctor to call prior so we can get the best treatments.
I do hope you test negative, and a while ago I think I would have canceled holiday plans for our family, but I am starting to think it is time to move cautiously yet bravely ahead and worry less. Best wishes!

Thinking of you @Karl_K and keeping my fingers (and toes) crossed for you. Try not to worry too much right now, that’s not good for you either.

Hey Karl. Sending prayers your way! Just an anecdote but it may ease your mind a bit. My stepmother (80 years with 3 doses of Pfizer) is probably the most compromised person I know. She has sarcoidosis, an autoimmune that primarily attacks her lungs. She is usually in hospitalized once or twice a year for pneumonia or some other complication. She tested positive after an exposure and immediately got the monoclonal antibodies. Amazingly she only had very mild symptoms and tested negative 6 days later. We were all so relieved.

Again, prayers for you and your wife.

Rapid tests are negative for both wifey and I.
pcr tests are going to take 3-4 days.
Way way to many people in the the testing place I was having the beginnings of a panic attack.

It's a good sign that you're having no symptoms, I'm pretty sure your pcr will be (-) too. The problem is that viruses are most contagious in the period before symptoms show, a very clever way they have of ensuring their survival.

Best wishes to stay well!

Thank you everyone!!

@Matata wifey says she she has exclusive rights when it comes to spankings. LOL
Thank you for the well wishes and the laughs.

Thinking of you Karl.

I totally understand having that nagging feeling inside during this pandemic and doing it anyway. The regret is something awful.

I’m sure your vaccines held up. Omicron symptoms are manifesting so early. They say three days.

@Karl_K , I read somewhere yesterday (I wish I could remember where) that symptoms were appearing in many people after 3 days with the Omicron variant. Please try to relax a little (I know much easier said then done).

Sending negative dust to you and wifey!!

Oh gosh. That must be a hard wait. Please don’t beat yourself up—it is so hard to be on guard all the time.

Keep us posted and we will all be thinking about you.

delta officially which is why I went ahead and went.
The vaccines are standing up well to delta.
There were no confirmed cases of omicron in my area on the 22nd.
It looks like state wide omicron is less than 5% of the ones they tested for the variant in the last 7 days.
Which is the rub however very few cases are ever tested for variant so the real number is totally unknown.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you and your wife!!

Great news so far, and I hope the PCR test will confirm that you and your wife are negative!

That sounds awful! Hopefully well distanced, masked, and great air purifiers! Don't they do drive through testing in your area?

People were pretty good for the most at least trying to stay distance but for the size of the room was to many people. There were only a 3 or so ppl waiting when we arrived.
Had purifiers.
Everyone had a mask on.
The available drive thru option was pcr only and are running 4 days on average for results, the pharmacys are booked solid with appointments and not taking ppl without an appointment.
There are several large walk in and drive in testing sites closed until after the 1st because they are on schools property. That included the second largest available testing site in the area.
