Are there VS2 stones without black inclusions out there? I saw a stone yesterday, it''s a VS2 clarity. There are 2 clouds on the edege of the table, when I look from the top with a $100 loop, I can only see a tiny black dot, but when I look from the side, I can easily see a black inclusion in between the clouds. If I want a nicer quality stone, should I go VS1 or above and avoid black inclusions. I think what I want to ask is that is black inclusions normal or a VS2 clarity stone? Thanks a bunch for all your expert opionions.

If you ever want to know whats inside a diamond flip it over on its belly you can see it all from there.

All clarity grades are talke from the top, no fair peaking from the sides :)

Its hard to say on that call unless I could see the diamond so Im just guessing if I told you what I thought.

A correctly graded SI1 sounds to be better then what your looking at with that VS2. Dont let that one diamond be your bench mark on how all VS2''s will look like.

Best of luck on your search and education its a long one :)

Yes, there are lots of diamonds without black inclusions - you just need to find them. All diamonds are graded from the top down. If you want it to be clean from all angles, you'll need to go up in clarity or have the vendor/jeweller find one that has "strategically" located inclusions that can be hidden under the prongs and such. However, I have seen many very clean VS diamonds posted here. Heck, even SI1s. Just curious, what shaped diamond is this? Step cuts show inclusions a lot more easily than other cuts.

Ditto.

Mine is a VS2 and is eye clean without ANY black inclusions at all. I would pass if you can see any inclusions from the top at a reasonable distance, many VS2s will be completely eyeclean.

Also, is this diamond graded by a reputable lab like GIA or AGS? I ask because non-graded diamonds or those graded by less reputable labs might not actually be the clarity grade they are represented as...something worthwhile to note.
