Who can tell us (newbie), how much difference are these stores. Any possibility eye clean on SI2 grade?
Colour is a very personal thing. Many people want only icey white, some people really like the slightly warmer tint that can show in range I - L..Date: 8/24/2008 2:29:27 AM

what color should I get? I am sure not e and f. I am thinking about I, or J, I just worry about if it's going to show tint yellow color, or it should be face up white w/ idea cut. Any suggestions?? Help!!
Just a slight disagreement - although this can often be the case, I don''t believe it is universal. I know my K is just as white from the sides as from the top (in body colour) - maybe I lucked out? But I''m sure there are others like it out there too..Date: 8/24/2008 1:18:46 PM

Zpak - no one can answer the color question for you - what you really need to do is go to see stones graded by either GIA or AGS in person. That way you can tell what colors you prefer (it would be great if you could take your gf with you to see what she prefers too to make sure you are on the same page). You may prefer warm colors, or you may prefer colorless. As mentioned, it is personal. Although some of the warmer colors may ''face up'' whiter, you will still be able to see warmth from the side when you are not looking directly head on at the very top of the stone (unless it is totally bezel set and hiding the sides). That bothers some people, and makes others very happy (diff shades also look better on diff skin tones too). You just need to figure out what makes you (and your gf) happy. If you find warmth pleasing, it can be a great way to save $!
Hey AJ - you likely are not color sensitive - the reason a stone gets a color grade is because of the color or tone that is present. If it weren''t present, it would be a D. I have had two well cut Js that looked pretty great from the top, but every time I got a side glance the color was clearly evident. I do love warm diamonds too (I own some myself and have been known to swoon over others in stores!), but for some weird reason warmth did bother me in my ering. People learning just need to know that you really cannot tell color from your computer monitor and color will be seen from the sides even if a stone faces up white if you are color sensitive. That is why I always recommend that it is a good idea to go and see them (GIA or AGS graded stones) in person to discover if you are sensitive - if not then you are totally set, if you are, then you will be able to see the color.Date: 8/24/2008 1:52:12 PM

I just wanted to remind zpak and others reading this to take each stone on its individual merits/features.![]()
I agree with you on the rest - definately a nice way to maximise budget if zpak and his girl like the warmer colours![]()
