So, I posted previously that my diamond has chipped and also has a crack in it. I am having it replaced through my insurance company. I am working with a jeweler on the replacement. My current stone is a VS1 I color and I would like to up in color, so I left the jeweler a message about going to a VS2 so that I can go up in color to an H. I am wondering if I should go up to a G? I have an oval stone and the current carat weight is .84. The appraisal lists the side stones on the setting to be between an H and an I. I may even want to go up a little on carat weight but am not sure what the cost might be to upgrade a little. Thoughts? I attached a photo of my current engagement when I first got it.

Are you going to halo it when you get the new stone? What was your final decision on that front?

I think if they are looking at GIA graded stones, then yes, H VS2 would be good. If they aren't GIA graded, you will have no idea what the color really is. I think if it were me, I'd rather add money toward the the price of the stone and get a larger stone than to spend the money adding a halo.

ditto, you should be fine with an H.

I think I am holding off on the halo for right now depending on what the jeweler has for me. He called my hubby today and said he worked with his supplier and found some stones for me that are all of higher quality than the current stone. He is leaving for vacation tomorrow and returns next Monday. When he gets back he will call me to set up an appt. to look at the stones he has for me to choose from. He also said he has been discussing everything with insurance, so we will see in a little over a week what he has for me. I can't wait! Depending on which diamond I choose will determine if I am doing the halo or not. I may end up with a larger stone and choose to not halo.

ditto this. I prefer higher colors but I don't think you will see much difference from a G to an H
