Hi all,

First of all, we appreciate all your help and welcome all comments. I am going to buy a 1.56 diamond tomorrow. But I make my final mind; I want to get a third opinion.

Carat 1.57
Color I
Clarity VS2
Cut EX, (polish Very Good and symmetry EX)
Girdle Medium
Table 57
Depth 61.8
Crow Angle 35
Pavilion Angle 41
The only concern for me is there are 3 clouds in the GIA certification. By the way I am going to pay $9000 for it.
Does these clouds will be a big concerns for this diamond?

Thanks all.

Clouds won't be a problem with a VS2. Have you seen it in person? It scores a 2.4 on the HCA and ideally you'd like to be under 2...might not be the absolute best cut you can get.

Ditto Neat, it could be a nice diamond but an Idealscope image would be very useful, see if the vendor can provide one.

Agreed with above. Really need an IS pic to determine if this is a worthwhile stone.

Hi All,

Thanks for all you advise. Actually I will buy it online and I didn¡¦t see the stone in persion.

I also run the HAC and I know the score is only 2.4. The vendor holds the diamond for me and the deadline is today. I have to make decision today. ƒ¼

I did a lot of researches and for 1.56 carat I VS2, the price for $8900 is very attracted to me.

I will try to get IS image from the vendor. But I am not sure they can provide. Your guys are worry about the cut based on HAC score. Does it mean I can get a better deal than this one?

ya, basically GIA''s definitions of a excellent cut is very wide and includes some combinations that are not that ideal. So in effect you could be paying for an ideal cut stone that, based on the parameters input into HCA, could probably not perform ideally. That is what we are worried about.

The stone shows promise, but I agree with the others that an ideal scope image would really help learn more about the stone given this particular crown/pavillion combo.

Which online vendor are you dealing with anyway?

This could be a borderline steep deep stone, that is why an Idealscope image would be so useful to determine if there is any light leakage. GIA round the numbers, so depending on which direction they are rounded to, the diamond could show a bit of light leakage as a result, or none at all - it is one of those crown and pavilion combos at 35/ 41 where we won't know without an Idealscope image. Chances are it will be fine, but it is always good to be able to check in these cases.

I will buy it from bluenile.

Ok, they don''t offer Idealscope unfortunately, but they do have a 30 day return policy so you can check it out carefully yourself. Look at the stone in as many different lighting conditions as you can to give it a good '' test drive''!

Agreed, they will not supply IS or even photo. Looks like a very good price for it, do not see others with the same parameters as what you have for that price, so I think the HCA 2.4 score is justified in this case.

Good Luck. :)
