vs1 f color black inclusion on side

I bought a diamond on bn and on closer inspection there is a visible black inclusion on the side below the girdle. It shows up like a little when the diamond is rotated on light from the side. Excellent symmetry, Polish, ideal cut. Is it worth keeping?

the knowledgeable people here tell us that if you have a good deal and you like the stone and possibly you can cover it with a prong it could be a keeper..

Only if you don't mind a black inclusion in your diamond.

Seriously - is this inclusion visible without magnification? If not, what magnification are you using that allows you to see the spot? And just out of curiosity, is it a certed diamond, and if so by which lab?

Personally I expect a VS1 stone to be eye-clean and I wouldn't accept an unset VS1 stone with a black spot that's visible without magnification or at 10X magnification. There are plenty of unset diamonds out there to choose one, and at VS1 prices, you should be able to find one without such an obvious inclusion.

That said, I have a ring that one of PS's recommended appraisers described as having VS2 stones. Imagine my surprise when I spotted a black crystal deep in the pavilion! On a good day I can see it when I examine the ring closely without magnification, but most days I need a loupe to pick it out. But - it's an old-cut diamond that's bezel-set in a ring that I love, so just accept it as is and wouldn't consider replacing the stone. You don't have those constraints when you're buying a loose diamond.

Who graded the stone (GIA/AGS etc)...

I would expect my VS1 to be very, very clean. Is this a round brilliant? If so, there are probably plenty out there
that do not have black inclusions. If this is a fancy cut stone that you like then it may be difficult to find something
similar.

I think I have same issue it is slightly noticeable under certain conditions and only on the side.Wondering if I should return it, probably ask an appraiser for their opinion or just let the lady decide.

Yup, no need to settle on a VS1 with a dark inclusion.

Sounds like it is eyeclean since the inclusion is only visible with 10x from the side, and I think the tiny black inclusion insures that you'll always be able to identify your stone after it goes in for cleaning, sizing, etc. Is it like a little pinpoint? I have a VS1 stone and I do not think a tiny pinpoint that is not visible from the side without 10x magnification would bother me. If it is larger than a pinpoint, I would not keep it.
